Default Do you shave in the shower?

I used to constantly nick myself shaving in front of the bathroom vanity with the large mirror, as I was always in a hurry.

Now I leisurely shave in the shower, until very recently without a mirror, and seldom nicked myself. That is, until the disposables that I was using got so bad that I had to scrape and scrape, usually nicking myself in the process.

Then I discovered B&B, got a few Gillette adjustables, a sample assortment of blades, and rediscovered shaving!

But, with the very sharp blades in the DE, I decided I needed a mirror in the shower. Bought a cheap non-fog off of Amazon and now I am in shaving heaven!

I looked at that one, but I need one that will hang on the wall in the shower, so decided on this one:
    http://www.amazon.com/InterDesign-Aw...836333&sr=8-10

For less than $10, it works great, if I remember to fill it with hot water before I start taking a shower.

I reckon another concern might be accidentally dropping a razor on your foot, or dropping it and in an effort to get away, planting your sole right down on the razor head (not to mention the possibility of damaging a razor in a fall like that). I've considered moving my operations to the shower (and leaving the shower on trickle while I shave), but my imagination questioned whether it would be a good idea.

Nope. Since I like to shave with cold water I'm not going to stand in a cold shower.

Been doing it all my shaving years, and there's been far more than 20 of those. For treats I occassionaly shave at the sink or in the bath. But then I use the Futur only.

I shave in the shower with a mirror probably 80% of the time. I've dropped a DE razor once and a shavette once over the past 10 months or so. Caught myself instinctively reaching to catch the DE and pulled away last second. No injuries to my person or the razor luckily. Shavette I jumped well clear and yet still had to fight the instinct to catch it haha. Changed the blade both times and finished the shaves without further incident. Sidenote: started taking the alum block with me to guarantee my grip.

I tried it back when I shaved with carts a few times but never really felt comfortable. I have shaved in the bath while relaxing after a hard day and it can be a relaxing experience.

Well I shouldn't say this but I can't remember dropping the razor in the shower. That means I probably will drop my new (to me) Fatboy tonight when I shower and shave. Most of the old razors have really good knurling for just that reason, of course, to give you a really good grip. Hey, that thought deserves a new thread, what razor has the best "grip"?

Default Us shower shavers are in a distinct minority!

Only 25% shave in the shower? Wow, I thought the percentage would be higher!

I used to shave in the shower sometimes with carts because a buddy had mentioned it, but i always felt i had more luck in front of the mirror when it came to closeness and not missing any spots. So with the DE, i just always stuck to the mirror.

I've never shaved in the shower. I don't think it's odd. It just isn't for me.

I have to shave my head and my face and I find the shower is the perfect place for it. The steam softens the whiskers, the hot water is always running and can be applied. I have a mirror set up in there. It's nice to rinse right under the shower. I've dropped the razor a bunch of times; I've never hurt myself and never stepped on the razor. The biggest concern about dropping it is hoping it doesn't head for the drain. Also, some cartridges come off and have to be attached again. Minor problem.

I have taken a break from the shower shave. I am finding I pay more attention to prep, vs just hot water on my face and then a shave. I have mixed feelings as well about the amount of water used while I stand out of the stream to shave. About a month ago, I took down the mirror and have been shaving at the sink. I used the water left over in my scuttle to rinse the sink out when I am done.

Since I shave with straights, I don't want to risk dropping one on my bare foot with soapy hands.

It also takes me over 30 minutes to shave (three passes with the straight and then some cleanup with a DE) but only about 10 minutes or so to shower. So I'm saving water by shaving in the sink!
