1953 or 1978 ball end gold tech

I just picked up at a house sall a mint ball end tech date stamp Y 3 . Y was used in 53 and 78 how can I tell wich date this razor is ?

I don't think they made the Tech in the late 70's so I would think it's from 1953 for sure.

Checking B&B date codes the tech ball end was made from 1939 to 1979

If the guard plate is notched out where the four corners of the cap meet it, then it's a later model. (That change over happened in the early '60s.) The handle would also be different. The '53 Tech would look like this one, and a '78 like this one.
