    Default Serious problem!

I don't know what it's called RAD? But I've just ordered an ikon OSS, this doesn't really sound like a bad thing and I'm really looking forward to getting it but..... This week I've already bought a fatip, a fatboy, a slim and a Gillette lady shave for my wife. I'm a bit obsessed its quite worrying but I know on here I'm not alone

Whats the worst/best/most expensive run of purchases you guys have done?

Well, just since last week I've bought a Super Speed flaretip, a new Semogue brush, a Fatip Grande and a big bottle of Trumpers skin food so I know how it is to be obsessed with buying shaving things even though this is nothing in comparison to what the big boys do

My worst purchase would have to be pre-shave oil since it does nothing for me and my best is probably the Silvertip brush I got from Whippeddog just because it holds up very well for a 20$ brush.

    I had a bender recently.

Its not all arrived yet.... My new dubl duck goldedge, my newest super-old razor, my super fancy ivory Rodgers set (still in transit), a b&b limited le grelot... Probably more, I can't keep track..

And this is by no means my worst....
...somebody help me, it's a sickness!

Of all the ADs, buying a bunch of brushes makes the least sense to me. I can see maybe a good silver tip badger and a good boar brush...maybe a travel size too. But having 5 or 6 brushes just seems redundant to me; and brushes are not cheap (except some Omega boars). I have thus far avoided that AD...I have three brushes. Two different sized badgers and one boar.

Seems to me like your obsession is completely normal. Buy more I say! I'm also on the gentlemanly restraint hiatus so let me live vicariously through you...please....for the love of god.....buy more and tell me about it

But there are so many types of "good silvertips"! You got the stubbies, two bands, three bands, long handles, short lofts for face lathering, longer lofts for face painting, the pillow softs, the backbone crowds, big knot small knot, etc. The only reasonable approach to see what you like best is to try them all I'd guess.

I ABSOULTELY agree with you. Before joining B&B, I had 1 brush for 5 years. Now, I have that same AOS brush which is pure badger, a Vulfix 2236 (very large brush) and a SOC boar. Can't see myself getting anything else without getting rid of one.

I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. Now that I'm a member at B&B, my awareness of brush types has me interested in trying each style to really dial in what I like best

I ABSOULTELY agree with you. I am a participant of the Summer of Gentlemanly Restraint because I can't figure out which of my above statements I really believe....

I'm sorry to inform you that you have come to the wrong place for advise. If one is an alcoholic, he goes to AA meetings, not to a biker bar.

Only my Rabbi knows the answer to that question but it had to do with brushes and there were a fair number of "0" in the total number.

Irrelevant. Embrace your sickness. You aren't going to shed it for a while so hug it each day and go for the gold. Guilt only dampens the ecstasy.

    I once bought a 7 day set for over a grand - I felt so darned stupid for doing it that I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have. I haven't gone that big since - although close when I got an unexpected windfall - but I have also learned to enjoy things. I have a good regulator on my throttle... when I run out of money I stop buying. ;-}

    .
I agree, there's really no reason to have more than 2 or 3 brushes.

PM me when you decided to thin the herd!

    Mitch

(and seeing the MT quote, I had always seen attributed to MT the quote "...there are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics...", however, in his autobiography, MT attributes that quote to Disraeli.)
