Default Just a bit of fun.

Amusing myself this evening. I made some ice spheres and put a shot of scotch into them. Scotch in the glass, sphere into that, then another on top. As the ice melts, diluting your drink, another shot is released. And then another.

Sure, I could just put a triple into the glass with a couple of cubes, but anyone could do that.

Mwahahaha! I'll let you all ponder over my evil genius for a while longer. (Or at least until there is light enough to take some more pictures.)

OK, Here's how. SWMBO was out shopping and she found this Japanese ice ball making thing that makes three big balls of ice at a time.

To make the empty spheres you just hatch them early before they freeze solid, put a hole in the side with a ice pick or knife, and tip the liquid water out. Using a small funnel pour a shot of booze into the sphere, pop it into a glass, and watch your guests eyes stick out when you hand it to them.

    So cool! Imagine the possibilities.

Rum in the ice balls added to a tall coke would be cool. Bailey's in an ice ball added to an iced coffee... Hmm...

That would make for a great party! I'll have to file this one away for some day.

Pretty cool, but I bet the thickness of the ice is pretty small.

Now if you really want to impress, make solid clear ice spheres & use that for your drink. It's not as easy as you think.

The one in the glass in the last photo is solid. To make it clear I would probably agitate the tray (with a fish tank pump for example) as it froze.
