Recently got back into blogging
I've been posting more or less regularly on my tech blog for a very long time, but for the last year or so I've been in a slump, lacking inspiration to write, and not setting aside time to do so.
However, a post at one of the blogs I follow, contained Jerry Seinfeld's productivity secret; Write every day, and don't break the chain.
So, I downloaded the Don't Break the Chain app for my iPhone, and have been writing for five concecutive days (I know, not a lot, but it's a start), and I already have fourteen blog posts scheduled for publishing, on the weekly schedule that I want to hold myself to, meaning I now can take a bit of time to write longer, fuller posts, delving more deeply into topics that interest me.
So, why do I post this here? One part is to keep my commitment to myself to not break the chain, the other is to hear how you guys keep yourself motivated to write?
Really, motivation is a bitch, and I'm lucky in that a lot of the material that has now been scheduled is stuff I had already written for other purposes, yet other things are things I noted down to tackle at some point, but I can see myself continuing to write for ages now, and I really hope I can keep to it.
My blog is part personal knowledge base, part showcasing of my technical skillsets, including technical writing, and part a way for me to get publicised. I decide my schedule, I decide what goes onto the blog, and I decide what level of depth the entries should have. It's an amazingly liberating feeling to have my own space, which is just mine, which noone else dictates.
If anyone is interested, my blog is located at www.razumny.no, and it's all in English.
