Thread: Gym Dopp Kit

    Default Gym Dopp Kit

What do you guys use for a dopp kit at the gym? My standard travel kit is much too big. I'm also looking for input on soaps, my current bar soap isn't cutting it.

    Thanks
    Kyle

I bring along my Grosvenor, Tabac shave stick, the DE I am feeling for the day, Razorock Alum, some Razorock Aftershave wax that I put in a 1 ounce travel container, and a washcloth. Fits nicely in a small cosmetics bag or even a freezer bag. Sometimes if I am eager to clear out the naked, hairy, fat guys from the sinks, I will bring my Feather Artist Club RG. Something about the straight clears that place up. Guess they want out in case of a crime scene type scenario!

Pre-stropped straight. Pre-stropped spare, too. FS Silvertip, Burma Shave mug with VDH, styptic, alum block, clubman, toothbrush and paste. Gawkers can gawk. Questioners will be ignored until I am done shaving.

I have an old canvas Dopp kit. In it I have one of a few large pill bottle with a number of holes drilled through it for ventilation in which I keep a shave stick de jour.

Next to it in the bag I have an empty toilet paper roll that I use to protect medium brush such as a semogue boar, or 24 mm TGN finest in a resin handle. The toilet paper roll keeps other items from pressing against the knot and allow the brush to somewhat dry after use. When it gets beat up, I simply replace it.

I also use a razor case from West Coast shaving which won't hold my R41 or other long-handled razor, but will handle a Merkur HD or various vintage Gillettes.

Sorry I can't help since I go to the gym after work and I shower and shave at home after work.

I don't normally shave at the gym but if I do I take the blade out and put it back in it's wrapper (I save them for disposal), I bring a good face scrub, a tube of cream you can apply without a brush (Real Shaving Company do a really good one), a wash cloth, a styptic pencil and balm. Because everything is in small 100ml tubes they all fit nicely into a small shaving bag
