Default Tobs cologne fakes? Blue label shave shop?!?!

Recently purchased the Mr. Taylor's fragrance cologne to match my shaving cream (ordered from amazon). After I had used the fragrance I realized it was nothing similar to the cream, and was in fact the shaving shop scent. I actually liked the scent more than Mr. Taylor's so I kept the bottle without even notifying the seller.

I don't know why it suddenly clicked because I knew better, but the shaving shop products all come in maroon/red labels/packaging. What do you think sirs? Did I get the cheap impostor?

The scent does not seem to linger more than 2 hours or so, possibly a bottle with only half actual fragrance and the rest water?

So does the bottle say Shaving Shop or Mr Taylors? I think I'm ascertaining from your post that it says Shaving Shop (on the blue label though).

My Shaving Shop aftershave and cologne do indeed have a maroon label. Any chance of some pics? On me Shaving Shop lasts about 5 hours, but I apply it pretty liberally, and layer it over the aftershave.

It's certainly odd that you got a different coloured label. I'd be raising some questions.
The problem with Arsenal is that they always try to walk it in!

pretty much all colognes last < 3 hours on me, but it's most likely because i don't apply too liberally and my sense of smell isn't very good. i think it's an area of YMMV and you probably don't have reason to suspect that it's diluted just because it doesn't last long. i could be wrong though.

anyway, find some way of notifying other potential customers that the seller has either made a mistake or deliberately scammed you. the world needs more reviews, reports, and comments.

I emailed TOBS about the product with a picture. Hopefully they respond soon. I will put the pic up on here as soon as I can.

FWIW, I received the same as you. The box it came in said "Mr. Taylor's", but the bottle was labeled "Shave Shop". I then (stupidly) ordered a second bottle thinking the first was a packaging error. Same situation. Like you I've kept both (it isn't a bad scent), and chalked it up to the warnings about buying fragrances on Amazon.

Doh! Shame because it is a lovely scent. Hopefully amazon will take action soon. I don't expect much though.....

I notified amazon over live chat with customer service, full refund and no questions asked. Not too shabby.

I am sure they will assist you if you notify them of the issue

    I <3 amazon

I'd leave some feedpack on the seller too. Maybe save someone else the trouble.

I wouldn't have thought TOBS was popular enough to warrant making a fake of.

Pretty much every fragrance is counterfeited. Fragrances are an incredibly profitable item to sell knock offs of. As you alluded to though, it is usually bigger name ones than TOBS. Did you buy the TOBS from Amazon? Or was it from a third party seller through Amazon? You have to be careful buying frags from third party sellers.

Not to derail the OP's story, but the bottle I bought was from Amazon, not a third party. Also, I think the juice was fine, my problem was that the box said "Mr. Taylor's", but the bottle said "Shaving Shop". Not having used it before, I don't know which it is.
To reiterate, Amazon fixed the problem, above and beyond. But as others have stated, caveat emptor when buying any fragrances online.

Sounds like the wrong juice was poured in the bottle (OP) and a different juice/corresponding bottle was placed in an incorrect box (different poster). Seems like an issue that originated with TOBS not the seller / Amazon, with no way for the latter two to ascertain there is issue until it's brought to their attention by buyers. Obviously the latter two are in a better position to make things right, at least stateside. I wouldn't lambast the seller or Amazon over it, as others here are alluding to.

But I don't think that explains the different coloured labelling (unless I'm misinterpreting you). I'll have a look at my bottles tonight (I've got both Mr Taylor's and SS) as I think the SS bottles says "A superb gentleman's cologne" whereas the Mr Taylor's has the same "A gentleman's cologne" that the OP's bottle does.

Unless I misread: OP purchased Mr. Taylors. He received a bottle labeled Mr. Taylors. That bottle has all the accurate labeling as genuine Mr. Taylors. The scent within the bottle may be Shaving Shop.

I didn't say "lambast." I said to leave feedback.

Thank you for reading and responding to my comment. Kindly read all the others before assuming I referred only to you. FWIW: nobody other than myself (well, and now you) actually used the word 'lambast.'

Again; in the spirit of 'leave feedback on seller to save someone else the trouble' - if it was a mistake by TOBS, I don't see how the seller should bear the burden as they would have had no idea of the error until it was brought to their attention. To leave feedback on the seller in that situation would be unfair to seller.

No personal attacks were meant so hopefully you didn't take personal offense.
