While trolling EBay, I found a cheap price on a vintage Gillette. Looks like a Late 1930's (1938-41) Early Tech. According to our own Shave Wiki:

"Inside: underside: REG. U.S. PT. OFF. | [Gillette diamond] MADE IN U.S.A. Civilian models from before WWII show nickel plate, contract models show black plastic handle and/or black colored metal.
Look for Triangular holes in the safety guard. Prewar Civilian models often appear with "fat" handle type."

Kind of cool to have a pre-WWII razor in pristine condition. Got it for $11.00.

    Looking forward to the shave.

    Super Dave

Great razor! Load it up with a sharp blade and give it a go.

I have a pre-war Fat handled Tech as well. Of the dozen razors I have, it is the one I reach for the most. All of my razors cost more, some ten to twenty times as much. However, when I want an effortless, BBS shave, the Tech can't be beat. It is tolerant of any blade I throw at it, but the St. Petersburg blades (Astra SP, Gillette Yellow, Iridium) really stand out for me. Post your experiences with it in the Tech Tuesday thread.

Tech Tuesday thread? I will check that out. Looking forward to it, but I may not be able to wait until Tuesday.

Ah, I have a less than mint, for $3, my boyfriend got offered it for free if he would go to the Antiques dealer's home to view his collection of razors.

I am using Feathers in it for my legs, but need something more aggressive for coarser hair, my current favorite!

Step up to a Super Speed or Lord L6 razor. It's a nice step up.

HAd mine replated and it looks brand new. For me the slightly more aggressive Fat tech with the 'D' slots over the regular slots. Enjoy your shaves.

Are the Tech handles prone to cracking like the New ones?
