    Default Budget silvertip brush

    Hello Gents,

I recently got a shaving brush from Amazon that had supposedly great reviews. It's from Parker Safety Razor and supposedly its 100% silvertip badger hair.

    http://www.amazon.com/Silvertip-Bris...8429509&sr=8-1

It lasted exactly 3 shaves before the epoxy glue gave way and the knot came off the handle.

So now I'm turning to you for a good recommendation of a silvertip brush. Small to medium size is fine cuz i have a small face, and i'd like the price to be between 60-70 max... Any good ideas?

    thanks so much!

Take a hard look at the Rooney 2/1 Super which is a silvertip. It can be had for ~$65 and is a great brush.

I had some issues with Parker brushes myself, so I understand.

you know, I have one Rooney 1/1(small) with Pure Badger that I started with. It's an excellent brush, def great quality but i'm wondering... after using it for less than a year the print have almost completely washed off.... why is that? Is that an indication of a lemon?

Can you use "budget" and "silvertip" to describe the same brush? I assumed they were incompatible terms.

Nope, the lettering on many Rooney's, including mine (a 2007), has deteriorated. Seems it is simply a Rooney trait :(

I have two Rooneys for over a year (one I use almost exclusively) and my lettering looks like the day I got it.

This is not the norm for any brush. I have a Parker silver tip that was given to me in December and has been through many of soaps. It's a great brush. Sorry to hear of your bad experience.

Did you try returning it for a replacement or a refund?

Seriously..check out the Omega..I treat mine pretty rough and has only lost like 2 hairs in the couple of months I've had it.

I have this brush as well, here is my review:

    http://badgerandblade.com/reviews/sh...lvertip&cat=38

This brush is like lathering with a pillowy cloud. The tips are uber soft, but it is not floppy. Loft is not too high like some other Omega's, and at $45 bucks, it's hard to beat. The handle is gorgeous.

I want to mention Vulfix 2234. It's around $60 and is a great brush.
...Or buy a Finest knot and a handle from The Golden Nib and glue them together yourself - total $40. It's a great value.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I still use my pure badger Parker regularly, since I like the stiffness sometimes. It was my first (and only) badger brush for several years, and has held up well with hard use. I can understand you not wanting to take a chance on another one, but I usually don't hear too many negatives about them.
I am still dreaming. Still, am I?

I think a TGN handle and knot (possible Chubby Clone) will be the next brush I get which will not be anytime soon but a guy can dream can't he.
