man oh man, i just stopped at a saks 5th and noticed a new Killians area. stopped to smell some and try to remember the oft commented on scent, and this beautiful young brunette (no joke, the creed and bond 9 ladies are kinda knowledgable, but too mature). this young lady not too young and not too old...

talk about a sales pitch, IIRC she was wearing cristal? and wanted me to smell those points that she dabbed on herself... hot damn.... i think i had a moment of not even recollecting what i was supposed to br doing.. or the fact that i wanted to take a 5 second paper smell and be on my way... she was very nice and had a slight accent that was not native to the area, am i drifting off topic again???

she hooked me up with a couple small botlles of incense, amber, pure ouds, cristal and some others.

what a wonderful scent those Ouds are!

Is that what real oud smells like?

pretty pricey juice to boot, but when in the company of this type of salesperson, watch out... i don't even know if i bought anything or everything!!

I'm just beginning to try By Kilian fragrances. So far my favourites are A Taste Of Heaven and Amber Oud.

I like A Taste of Heaven, but for the price difference I'd recommend Caron Pour un Homme. Back to Black is the one I'm especially drawn to, but then I haven't quite "lost myself" in the sampling like you did, Jon.

Once I realized I could buy a 30ml travel refill of By Kilians and put them into my own atomizer I liked them a lot more. The travel refills come in 4 small glass vials so you could easily keep 15ml and resell 15ml too. Bought this way the price isn't bad at all (relatively speaking - I would have thought the price insane just a few years ago :-) ).

I like Taste of Heaven a lot. I also like Back to Black although I think I slightly prefer Odori Tobacco. Straight to Heaven was also interesting but so far hasn't compelled me to actually buy it.

unfortunately no, it was on Long Island, but she told me that Kilian's has a generous sampling program.

she tried to explain about the titles and subtitles, but honestly i didn't understand the point and not sure i still do...

anyone can comment on the arabian nights collection vs traditional oud?
