Default Aqua Velva In Glass Bottle

This may sound trivial but I'm excited. I just some new old stock Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue in a 3.5 oz. bottle off of ebay. I mostly just wanted the glass bottle so I can buy it in the plastic bottle and decant it into the glass. I've got a thing about plastic bottles.... I don't like them for aftershave or cologne. Anyway.... I got into traditional wetshaving just recently and my ASAD didn't begin until after Aqua Velva's switch over from glass to plastic so I never got a glass bottle of it. Now I have one on the way .

Congrats Ben, I managed to pick up a couple of the glass bottles myself before they went all plastic.

Just got my Aqua Velva in the glass bottle. Just what I was hoping for. It looks to be one of the glass bottles just before they went to plastic recently. I was pleased to see that the top is not the plastic "sprinkler type" top but is a glass top similar to Floid bottles. That should make it easier to fill by using a funnel I would think.

Smells great too. I've got too many other AS to say "I'm an Aqua Velva man" but I can see myself going to this often if it performs like everyone here says.

Smart. I wish I had a bigger one but oh well. Maybe I'll run across one someday.

I just sent an email to Combe Inc. (maker of AV amoung other products) to bring back the glass bottles. Probably won't help but it's worth a shot.

I have a glass one that has been kicking around the house for a while, I use it now and then.
It's too bad they switched to plastic bottles though...

With Nivea and even Gillette putting their splashes in glass bottles,I dont see why Mennen and Combe cant put Skin Bracer and AV back in glass yet still keep it affordable.=\

I got my response from Combe Inc. Basically, they told me that they did a bunch of research and determined that most people would prefer plastic bottles due to the chance of breaking a glass bottle..... and that I was in the minority on this opinion. They also said that they provide more product in the plastic bottles to maintain a better shelf appearance in the store. More or less, they said that they did a bunch of research and invested alot of money and took great consideration in the change to arrive at the decision to go to plastic.... which I believe.... I just don't prefer plastic myself. Anyway, it doesn't sound like they have any intention of going back to glass. I'll just keep my glass bottle and decant into it.... which is fine. As much aftershave as I have I will probably go through a bottle of AV once every couple years so swapping juice from a plastic bottle to a glass bottle is not a big deal. Incidently, yesterday I received a couple bottles of Williams AV made by the Sara Lee Corp. that I ordered from Barbiere Di Figaro. It comes in a glass bottle and I love the juice. It's a little "toned down" compared to the U.S. version of AV.... very similar to Floid Blue as well.

I have 4 large and 3 small plus half a dozen musk all in glass. Bought then as soon as I heard they were going to plastic. That canned response from Combe circulated at that time too. The truth is they sell a lot through Walmart and Walmart dictated Fe plastic. Less breakage and lighter for shipping. Walmart tells companies what to do and that is why they suck. They treat vendors like crap. I'll never forget the time we had them on license extensions and they tried to treat us like a normal supplier. We were not nice. Pretty much pay or stop running all instances of the database backing your POS system.

Glass is the bomb! I have one large, and about 5 small AV in glass and 2 AV musk. I also recently got a New stock Skin Bracer in glass that came from Italy. I love it. AV is one of my favorites!

If you don't have a glass AV bottle, you can always decant into another glass bottle too. There are some nice apothecary and barber style bottles out there. Old Avon bottles are great too.

Aqua Velva was on sale at my local CVS this past weekend. Got the last glass bottle on the shelf! It was my first use of AV, and I honestly loved it! Found an addition to the summer aftershave rotation.

Try some mom & pop type pharmacies. They often have a lot of NOS stuff.

Good move transferring AS to glass. I firmly believe that all AS, especially mentholated stuff, should be in glass.

Just ordered some new Williams Aqua Velva in a big 200 ml retro looking glass bottle a couple days from a Spanish website. Got two bottles. They shipped yesterday. I had to get them because I gave one of my other Williams Aqua Velva 100 ml bottles to my barber as a gift last week. He loves Aqua Velva and tells about how back when he was in high school in the 1960's the upper classmen would practically drench themselves in AV. Ahh.... good memories.

A few years ago I found TWO 1960's era AV bottles-both full!- at a local thrift store. They both smelled great.

I have one unused glass bottle of AV AS. Are the formulas for the plastic and the glass bottles the same?

I really like the shape of these bottles, but really don't like what's inside, so I never bought any before they switched over, now I sort of regret not getting a few. I could have dumped the contents and refilled it with something else.
