Love the Speick stick as well, and I have tried it in three different modes. First just used the stick as is, unwrapped it and applied to face. Then I grated about half of the stick into my Edwin Jagger apothecary mug (still trying to figure out how to make best use of mug), and loaded brush from there. Pretty good results with that method. Finally, decided to get a little crazy and molded the last bit into an empty Speick Deo stick container, which also worked really well, finished off the stick today. Great stuff, and even though I am really a cream person, I have to say the Speick stick has earned its place in my rotation and generally made me quite interested in trying out some other shave sticks. I have a classic Palmolive waiting in the wings.

I would choose Speick over Tabac any day.

My current rotation of two soaps includes the Speick stick. Super easy to use and a great lather. I'm going to try the Palmolive stick at some point as well since I've liked the Speick so much.

I really like speick too, but I do think palmolive is just as good. I prefer both of these over tabac and moos.

Despite different ingredients and scent Palmolve and Speick are very close in performance, so close you could believe it was the same soap apart from scent (and colour). And yes, I do think too that they are at least one step up from Tabac/IM.

Since you live in Europe have you ever tried the Wilkinson shave sticks? If so, how do they compare to Palmolive?

I am afraid Europe is still far away from being one country and I have never seen them yet overhere. I know they sell them in Germany though and I will keep an eye out for some of those when hunting for Speick.

I have had almost the exact same experience. Speick over Palmolive by a small margin, and then a larger gap over Tabac/Moos.

Speick is my favorite soap. Best results of anything I have tried. Too bad I get mediocre performance from Tabac, as I like the scent. I keep hoping it's my technique or brush holding it back, and one day I will unlock it's true potential.

Im still really new to this so I haven't tried anything other than speick and tabac but both work really well for me. In fact I usually have a hard time picking which to use. I go back and forth about which I like better. I think Tabac is in the lead overall, though I think Speick (both the cream and soap) tend to leave my face a bit more moisturized) but both are outstanding and honestly I don't see much point in looking beyond these two great brands; not to mention I can buy all products from both these brands locally much cheaper than I can online so I never have to wait for Internet orders to be delivered which only adds points to Speick and Tabac

+1. The prescription bottle also works well to soak the tip of the stick so it can be applied to the face. I just wipe the bottle out with clean toilet paper before replacing stick and leave it open for a couple of hours (with stick in bottle) before capping it to allow the moisture to evaporate. A hole drilled in the cap would also allow for evaporation.

This is one of those cases of my mileage varying, a lot. Speick is near the bottom of my list. I get better shaves with Palmolive, Arko, La Toja, and Irisch Moos sticks, and pretty much any puck, with the possible exception of modern Williams. Maybe I'm just not using enough soap or something, but every time I try it I'm left unimpressed. Good thing there are so many other great performing soaps out there!

Are Speick sticks common in Germany? I'm going to Berlin in July and want to pick up a couple of sticks if I can find them in a typical chemist/drugstore.

Don't know how common they are but ive read they cost about 2 euro, so you may want to get more than "a couple"

Does anyone else have moisturizing issues with Speick? I love the scent to death, but my skin always feels a little bit tight and dry afterwards.
