Default Help dating razors: GEM Ever-Ready/ Gold GEM Junior

Hello there! Yesterday I was talking with my dad about shaving and he mentioned he had some stuff I might be interested in. He is a barber and has collected a few things over the years. I'll post a thread for each razor, and one for the mugs/scuttle.. He didn't know much about them, but I told him I would try to see what I could find out here and let him know.

Here is a silver GEM Ever-Ready. It is marked "Ever-Ready, MADE IN U.S.A." under the lid. It has a more intricate handle.

Next is a gold GEM Junior. It is marked "GEM, BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, MADE IN U.S.A" under the lid.

The ER is their version of the 1912 patented frame, it was called the Improved Ever-Ready. It came out in 1930 as a replacement for the other ER you asked for identification of.

The Gem is a 1912 patented frame, they were made from the mid teens well into the 1940's with various handles.

Maybe a mod can move this into the proper forum.

Because this, and two others he posted at the same time were originally in the general discussion forum, instead of here in the safety razor/single edge forum. Someone moved this one but the other two are now buried in the general forum, I thought he'd get more responses if they were in the proper forum.

Thank you guys so much for the help! I was wondering what the going price on these were. My dad 'gave' them to me, but I would like to pay him something for them anyways. Thanks again!

Those sell for $10-15 in really good shape, there's actually quite a few of those still around. Great razors, some of us believe the 1912 frame is the best razor ever designed.

Does anyone know when the Ever Ready razor was discontinued? I believe they lasted into the 1960s, and some site stated they could be had until the 1970s. Does anyone here know for sure?

    Thanks.
