The BIC sensitive disposable razor

Morning, this isn't a post of discovery or a proclamation of a life changing event, it's just an observation based on my ramble through the shaving world, something I had an interest in before I bought my first De razor.

This last week or so I have used disposable razors and canned products. It started when I nicked one of the wife's Blue 2 disposables and Gillette foam, and continued when I picked up 10 BIC sensitive and some fusion gel that was half price.

I didn't shower shave, as I used to, I shaved post shower, at the sink, and did proper three passes, using the left hand as the brush.

Of the combinations the BIC and fusion gel are slightly superior. A great, reliable combination to get a BBS shave.

I wouldn't look any further as an answer to the travel problem, and I will ensure I keep both items on hand. I believe I have seen small travel cans of said product.

Hope that helps someone

I get good results with a DE and either Edge or Gillette Series gels.
The BICs still don't do it for me, though. Too much work.

I use the BICs all the time for overnight travel when I just need something to throw into my pack. I typically travel with a laptop day-pack for anything less than a 3-night stay. However, I still always pack a hard soap or small tube of cream and a brush, and face lather. There are certain things I'm not willing to give up just because I'm in a hotel room for the night.

In my experience these BIC sensitive blades are horrible. Go read the reviews for them, a lot of people have had similar experiences as me. They will cut, tug and pull all over.

When it comes to disposables I have found the ASDA Smart Price Single Blade Razors to be superior to the BIC. Cheaper too.

I just placed an order for some of the Greek-made BIC Metal disposables. They have a single blade with a guide bar, so I would expect a decent experience. Heard about them right here on B&B. I expect to take them on the plane this summer, so hopefully they work out OK.

I used this razor this morning, and I' definitely extremely impressed. I got a BBS shave in 2 passes, WTG and ATG.

It was so smooth and non-irritating that it almost felt like I didn't even shave. I didn't even prep properly for the shave. Definitely a go to product for travel, or when strapped for time.

I use a BIC sensitive disposable razor for my weekly head shave with BBS results in 2 passes.

I've used a BIC disposable for 2 shaves now, and last night had one of the best shave I have ever had. Of course, prep played a part, as did the lather (after reading a blog post on lathering by Alraz), but the razor did the work. Three passes, very little clean up. There are a few hairs on my neck that seem to be shaven, but magically appear within a half hour after I've shaved/applied AS/dried off, but everything else was BBS, and still pretty smooth when I got up this morning.

Now I need to figure out what's wrong with my DE technique since I don't do quite as well with a DE (hint: probably blade angle).

For future reference, they are usually a stock item at Fiesta grocery stores in the Dallas area (I just saw them there over the weekend).

They are pretty good; I used them as my training razor before my first DE arrived. The are a little longer in the handle than the BIC Sensitives, and it's a little easier to obtain the right blade angle with them.

I like their twin blade sensitive. The single blade gives a great shave, but it takes me 4 passes plus touch ups. The twin gets the job done quicker.

Wondered if the bic 2 blades were as good as the single blade. Shall experiment with the 2 blader.

They work fine. IMO the shave is on par with slant and feather blade. My shaving journey has taught me that beard prep is the most important factor in achieving a quality shave. Secondarily the correct usage of the shaving instrument.

Thanks for the heads up!

There's a "La Fiesta" a couple of miles from here, but they didn't have any kind of razors, razor blades, or the majority of stuff we'd hope to see. I did find a traditional barber shop I'd not known about previously, so my trip wasn't a waste of my time.

The actual name of the store is Fiesta Mart, although their signs only say "Fiesta." They are only in the D-FW area, Houston, and Austin (according to their web site).

I'm in Austin 3-4 times a year, sometimes more often. It once was a lot more often, with a slew of elderly Aunts, Uncles, and cousins there, but I was never really close to their kids, and all of the older folks died off. There's just a nephew there any more, but I like him well enough. I'll ask him to check the shelves for those (I do want to try them). Thanks.

For giggles (I thought) I used some edge gel that was collecting dust with my ER1912. I would strongly advise against this.

Yep, agree these are great for travel. Surprisingly decent little razors and at $3 a bag great for travel. Particularly good for overseas travel, I have had some horrible shaves with no-name airline razors, even in in the first and business lounges.

I use the BIC everyday but only to get at the far recesses of my nostril areas. It's just too difficult to reach with the head of my R41 DE razor.
