Default I've changed position on L'Instant vs Dior Homme debate

I used to be a L'instant de guerlain pour homme and LIDGE man.
Now that I've smelled both those + Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense, my current thoughts:

    DHI > LIDGPH > LIDGE > DH

DHI is the best of the four! My wife thinks "too powdery, smells like baby powder" but I love it. DH is too irisy and powdering, and I actually think DHI is more well rounded. LIDGE is good but I just cant wear it in other than cold weather. Not versatile enough for me. L'Instant non-extreme is VERY good but DHI is a bit better.

Interesting evaluation of these, Schad. I enjoy all four, and find them different enough to have them all in rotation, but haven't developed a strong opinion of how they stack up for me in a four tier ranking. I'll have to go through them again.

Kind of thought you'd like DHI.

    +1^^^^
I agree with every word in your post, every single word.
I do also get an almond type of smell from my new DHI - a mild bakery scent, very cosy scent.....

DH is still a bit too lipsticky for my taste....

I called Dior Homme Boutique in NYC today to order a full bottle of current vintage DHI. They said it was currently out of stock, but would be back in about a week or so. I asked about price. Said only one size, 3.4 oz for $72.

3.4 oz for $72 for DHI is a STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is niche quality juice yet cheaper than many other designer scents!

I know there is some discussion on basenotes about changing formulations and whatnot, but I ignore those completely. The only reformulations I take seriously is when something gets completely discontinued and brought back years later in a different looking bottle. An example would be that new Rive Gauche PH that got re-issues with a different bottle.
