Hello Ladies and Gentleman, if you would please take your seats tonight’s ceremony is about to begin. On behalf of myself, and the other Moderators at B&B, we would like to thank you for attending tonight’s special ceremony.

Tonight we are presenting the next "B&B Meritorious Shaver award."


This award is being presented to an outstanding member of B&B, who's accomplishments will be made public in a moment. But before we present the award I would like to share a bit of history on this year’s recipient.


His ancestors came from the Great White North, maybe Canada, I am not sure anyone knows.




They eventually moved South to a more temperate climate, where this years recipient was born, the great state of Minnesota? He spent his youth doing the normal things you do in Minnesota.

Such as……

Playing Baseball



Playing Basketball



Bowling



As a youngster holding the family pet.



When the recipient became a young man, he joined the navy, his father was a Marine, I am sure that went over well. He spent his military career on a Submarine.



Eventually he ended up in Lacrosse WI. That is where he met the Mrs.




The Mrs got a job working for a beer company in Joisey. The rest as they say is history.



This year’s recipient was chosen in recognition of his many contributions here at B&B. He is extremely helpful, always the gentleman, and can be at times just downright funny. I could not imagine a B&B without this man.

This member was instrumental in bringing the Simpson G3 Eagle project to fruition. This now legendary brush is still a highly sought after and is still soaring strong. I happen to own one of these brushes thanks to this member buying a spare and auctioning it for charity.

Speaking of Charity where do I begin? His generosity is the stuff of legend. He is generous to a fault. This member has been hugely instrumental in raising funds to fight Breast Cancer in the name of our very own Sue Moore. He participates heavily in Sue Moore day. Without his involvement and guidance, the Soap for Hope project would not have achieved the success that it did. Not only has this member devoted countless hours (and continues to do so) on this forum raising money, he has dug deeply into his own pockets as well. Did I mention Ink for Pink, that is another of his charitable endeavors.

This member was a big help in starting Movember last year and raised a bunch of money for that charity. He has helped with Operation Smile, and probably countless others I do not even know about. His countless efforts to help others are 2nd to none.

So what has this member done to help B&B you may ask? Well……..let’s see. This member has run countless group buys to help members get things at a reduced cost. He has done numerous PIFS of razors, blades, pens, and inks. He has sold countless razors and pens at no profit or even a loss, just to make sure a member could have what they wanted. This years recipient has served as the inspiring and organizing force behind countless face-to-face gatherings of B&B bretheren in far-flung places such as Washington, D.C. and the infamous Rutt's Hut. Servers at a DC sports bar are still scratching their heads over the guy who asked for a second glass of water for his pens...


This member served a term as a Steward in the Contributors Corner. His actions there set the foundation for what the CC is today.This Member has always been Mr. Scruffy’s right hand man keeping track of funds during the annual B&B fundraiser. HE was a huge part of creating the NIB forum, he was also instrumental in getting the recently added SE forum up and running. This member also took a turn at being a Moderator here at B&B. (There is always an open chair if you want to come back.)

What about the B&B LE brush the last two years? WOW! This member has helped me so much with that project, I am not sure I could have done it alone. (Of course he lives a block away from Rudy, and I think there is beer involved every time he goes over there. So there could be some personnel motive as well. )

I am sure there are hundreds of things I have missed or forgot to mention, but my fingers are getting tired…….


So without further ado the Moderators take great pleasure in introducing the recipient of the B&B Meritorious Shaver Award!

It is on this 26th day of May, 2012 that the Moderators here at B&B bestow upon Brianw the B&B Meritorious Shaver Award in recognition of his long-standing contributions towards the betterment of B&B and, more importantly, for his devotion to helping those in need.

Brianw has consistently exhibited an uncanny zeal exemplified by his persistent efforts on behalf of various charitable organizations in the name of B&B, as well as raising funds earmarked for the maintenance of B&B. Brian's tireless efforts behind-the-scenes are too often unheralded as are his innumerable random acts of kindness, many of them very often done with complete anonymity (but we eventually figure it out. )

Brianw exudes all the gentlemanly qualities that demonstrate the best of what the B&B community has to offer and it is because of these qualities that we acknowledge his achievements and proudly induct him into the Merit Award Winners Gallery.
