    Default Clumpy boar?

I picked up a 2011 Semogue LE bristle 1 brush from a member here. I've been trying it out and the bristles seem to clump in all different directions. When it's loaded the breach seems to always open up. I'm thinking it could be that it just needs more breaking in due to its density. I've never seen this before, but I've never had such a dense boar before either. Anyone have any insight on this issue?

Both the Bristle 1 and Bristle 2 does that.

I have a few other Semogues that has a hint of it, but definitely not as much as the LE's, so I think you are right; it's because of the density.

Totally normal. All of my Semogue Boars do that.

my LE1 was like that, the next owner said it was still like that (and claimed it was defective and basically gave it away) and every other LE1 i've seen is like this.

my 2 has a hint of it, but i'm guessing the loft makes it not so clumpy.

My SOC does it a little, mostly a bit clumpy as it dries. Doesn't seem to effect the performance so I'm not bothered.

I have a #2 that exhibited that condition for a while and I just thought it was normal for the density of the brush. The last several uses have lessened this condition. Perhaps these brushes take longer to break in. I do rinse it very well and shake it out and towel dry it a bit and hang it to dry before I put it back on the shelf.

mine does the same thing and I am not very happy with it. I've though mine was defective, because my equally dense LE 2010 B&B "blue boar" does not do this and is my favorite Boar and one of my top three favorite face lathering brushes. My 2011 LE (# 08) is in fact nowhere near as nice as my SOC or 830 brushes. It's my least favorite boar and I seriously think mine has a defective knot. Now it seems like there are many like mine. Hmmmmm. I'll post pictures later.

Top photo is the LE1 and LE2 in dry condition
Bottom photo is LE1 and LE2 in wet condition

This is perfectly normal for these brushes and not a defect.
