Default Changing Ink Cartridge Color Lamy Safari

So I bought a white Lamy Safari a few weeks back. I used up the blue ink cartridge that came with it already. When I ordered the pen I didnt order a converter just two black ink cartridges. Now I want to use the black in cartridge and want to know how to clean the pen. All the videos I've found show how to clean it but you need the converter which I didnt buy yet. Is there any way to get the old ink out without the converter?

A bulb syringe will also work, available at your local drug store!

Nahh... seriously, you should be able to run warm water (as hot as your hand can stand without using a glove) into the rear and it will eventually run clear.
A soak in warm water with some Dawn will also help clean out any dried ink, but running water should be fine for a basic flushing.

If you're just changing cartridges of the same color no need to flush. BTW you can refill the plastic cartridges with a needle and syringe. Eventually they'll get a little loose and have to be discarded but I've done that quite a bit over the years.

A bulb syringe works extremely well, and is very fast.

Definitely get a converter when you can. Bottled ink is a lot more economical and a lot more fun than cartridges to boot. It isn't really that messy either as long as you are careful and have a paper towel handy.

A really thorough flushing and cleaning won't be necessary when changing to black. When switching from black back to blue, yes.

    Just my 2¢

Thanks for all the advice guys. I just flushed it under water for a while and I'm pretty sure I got all the ink out.

Yeah my plan was to just finish the cartridges I have and then order a converter but I just went ahead and ordered one for my Safari and one for my girlfriends Platinum Plaisir and a bottle of Aurora Black. Now to practice my handwriting so this ink doesnt go to waste!

Start a journal. Great for handwriting practice and getting things off your chest

Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

And you can change colors any time.

Not that you wouldn't rather have 5 pens all loaded with different colors
