Default Issues with a Shave Soap in the Shower

I didn't put soap on my feet and slip, but if you're thinking of trying the shave soap in the shower, definitely watch for feeling like your feet just stepped in astrolube :)

Anyways, I was using the soap, and usually the soaps I use create "suds" I guess you'd call them?? The Shave soap I put on regularly (no brush etc., rubbed the stick over my body like I hear people do) but it must have put a clear film over my body as I had a hard time seeing any soap on my body (although admittedly it did feel like my skin was cleaned, just didn't see it is all).

I was wondering if that was normal, more also if there was some better way to use the shave soap (maybe a loofah or something? Although it really doesn't seem like it would create much of anything unless you used a brush or something).

I even used cream (I had some Real Shaving Cream stuff, and I don't like the lather, the smell was pretty medicinal, but I wanted to see how it would be in the shower, and it also was unlike any shower gels where it lathered up at least to airy suds, this just seemed to put a clear layer of soap over my body...

I've used shaving soap pucks in the shower before if I've not liked them for shaving. I always used a wash cloth. No problem.

A shave soap is designed to be more slippery than a bar soap. And they require a little more work (generally) to lather than a bar soap. Bar soaps are designed to be sudsy.

I couldn't lather it at all. Guess if it's hard to lather and shave it's hard to lather and shower :)

Use a sponge and rub the soap on it.

The poof was much more effective than the washcloth, thanks!

A poof or a loofah is essentially equivalent to a shaving brush; it creates mounds of lather from bath soaps or from shaving soaps.

Shaving soaps work OK in the shower, but they don't clean as well as bath soaps do.

I don't know why, but I thought it was a washcloth needed, feels like it still cleans pretty well without drying. My girlfriend was using a washcloth for the bar of bath soap she was using but liked the advice to use a loofah :)

I do the same thing. What I do is mix them with left over soap slivers, soak them overnight in water in a pan, boil them, add glycerin (because I have dry skin), and it sure beats any bar soap you can get at the local grocery or department store.

Poofs work pretty well for most soaps, and don't absorb and waste the soap the way washcloths and sponges do. As long as its a manly poof...
