Default Fragrance for a conference. What to wear?

I'm off next week to the big city for a conference.
What shall I bring with me?
    I'm looking at two fragrances.

    Help me choose.
I leave Wednesday morning, first thing (6:30am)

I have chosen some that are conservative, some that have big time projection but all of them I like and would take any of them.

If it was me, I would keep it fun, yet not offensive. Mugler and Eau Sauvage perhaps.

Whichever is conservative and subtle. Better to be remembered for attributes other than your fragrance.

I only voted for one - Aventus. The others all seem to be too much or too boring. Aside from any potential longevity issues, Aventus will provide you with just the right level of interesting but reserved sophistication.

I strongly believe the Lubin is the way to go.

Not simply because I believe you'll enjoy it the most, but because it's so out there, interesting and bold.

The only two I know are Tuscan Leather and New Haarlem. The projection of TL is just too big to me - spray just a little too much and no one will be happy sitting next to you for hours unless they really, really love leather sofas. I like TL but I would want to sit still in my own sillage for too long if I sprayed too much. I could see New Haarlem as long as you're light on the trigger finger. I often wear L'Instant du Guerlain Extreme in these situations because I like it, it's rich but not sharp and it lasts without being a projection powerhouse. New Haarlem to me is a bit sharper and has more projection but I could see wearing it too.

Without knowing what you do and the types of people attending the conference I chose the most conservative scent - Bleu. Aventus could also be considered. If the conference were in Vegas and you were going out in the evening then TL would be a great choice. I love Idole but think of it as more of a fall/winter frag. YMMV!

That's brilliant! i probably would not have picked it otherwise, but you have me completely sold.

I think I would have said the Tuscan Leather applied judiciously, just because so many folks seem to love it.

Am I the only one that is not at all an Aventus fan? No dis. Lots of folks whose noses and whose selves I respect love it. But I do not.

I also went a different direction. I voted for Lubin Idole and New Haarlem, so there's now a 4-way tie for 2nd place. I based my selections on the fact that these are my two favorites on your list, and when I sit in a conference all day, I want a scent on my wrists that I can enjoy. I can apply it carefully so it doesn't offend others around me. Aventus is leading the pack, but I'm slightly anosmic to Aventus, as I can't smell it after the first few minutes.

A dead heat. Earlier I went for Idole and TL. I based my selections utilizing the same method as Randy. They are my two favorites. I really like Aventus but I, too, can't smell it at all after a bit. Sheesh, it must be a 'Randy' thing going on here... same way to base selections and can't smell Aventus! At least we didn't pick the exact same two.

For a conference - none, but if you must, something very light

But if you "borrow my skin" as you suggested, we might end up with the same two!

I voted for bleu and Aventus. Bleu for when you need to stay conservative (if you're packed in tight in a smaller room for a presentation) and Aventus for when you want to open it up a little bit.

+1. If it were me, I'd use deod and aftershave. Done. Nothing would be more annoying than being stuck in a conference room all day with someone (male or female) with too much scent. Keep in mind, not EVERYONE will probably like it!

Hmmmm. Many good things to think about now.
I was thinking of something light for the day then something punchier for the evening.

I am presenting one of the sessions (a small one).
Ok, I think I will have to re think this. Maybe Aventus will have to sit this one out.
It has big projection on me.

I'm on the same page as daverasi. Bleu is a current best seller and won't offend anyone. It is aptly named because to me, it is the equivalent of a blue suit. I don't consider it boring, but it's kind of a new standard. I'm sure it's the best selling scent right now with muscle of Chanel pushing it hard.

But conferences are generally part work and part fun. For nighttime, Aventus may be in order, lady killer that it is. I don't like the stuff because I can't smell it. Scent blind to whatever secret shyt Erwin and Olivier put in it that's like a dog whistle to women. I advise caution with it. It is more potent than it seems to many who wear it. Have read many stories about this one overwhelming people. Last time I tried to wear I couldn't smell a thing and a coworker went off on me about how overwhelming it was. I am convinced that they used some sort of new synthetic in that one that some people canot smell. My nose is probably denser than most, but nose pressed to flesh, inhaling like I am drowning, I cannot smell anything after one hour, while others tell me it is pounding.
