The 2000 sounds like a good brush....not that I need another brush but we know how that could go.

Just pulled the trigger on an SOC in cherry from Vintage scents after being impressed with my Semogue 620. Hopefully this lives up to it's reputation. Now the wait.......oooooh is that a 2000......

I'm confident you will. I just used mine again and it's quickly become my favorite brush...and I know it'll only get better!

Thank you all for participating in my poll...I find the results interesting! I was introduced to wetshaving with the notion that Badger was superior (and it may still be although much more expensive) but it certainly appears that once people try a good boar they too are impressed.

I've had one since it was introduced and it's a regular part of my brush rotation getting used twice a week or more. I really like the brush but it was a bear to get it just right, I must have had a particularly tough one, most likely put together at the end of the day because it took months (6 or more) to break in and it had a lot of those thick clear bristles that seem like they won't split. It also has a little bit of a lopsided knot that doesn't affect performance or feel but bothered me a little when I first got it (but not enough to send it back to vintagescent). I will say that once it broke, it's been a pleasure to use offering a different face feel from my other brushes including other boars (from Semogue and Omega). It's a very unusual feel unlike any other brush other then the LE's.

I saw some splitting hairs after one use as well...but each subsequent use it keeps getting better. I find it interesting that the "splitting" is occuring from the edge of the knot towards the center in an almost symetrical fashion. Is this to be expected? Doubt it's a coincidence...hope you enjoy it as much as I have and will.

Soooo...this SOC has created a dilema. I purchased a Vulfix at the same time, and since I recieved the SOC I haven't used it. Herein lies my question: Do I sell the Vulfix now, or do I give it some time to see if it's not just a love affair? It hurts to have my most expensive, best looking brush sitting there, not being used. It needs a home.

I've also got a smaller AOS brush that I enjoy...but when it comes to a larger brush, I keep reaching for the SOC!

I love my boar it's much stiffer that the best silvertip, I think that some of the badgers are too flimsy and only the best badgers are stiff enough for me. So I really more and more on my (cheaper) boars brush.

+1. Just got mine in today and am really excited. Watever smell there was dissapeared with the first test lather. My Parker is an excellent paint brush and is a keper for those day's that I went a little to agressive on the shave the day before. So options, alternatives and rotations are a good thing.

I really like boar. I would rather buy a bunch of blades, balms, and creams, with the money save.
Please comment on my recent reviews. Thanks!

The best boar money can buy IMO. It's great.

For the record, there's a badger SOC as well. And it's equally awesome, can hang with the best of them.

You don't have a category for Omega boar lovers. Can't vote!

The thread spoke about my affinity with the SOC...the poll was for boar in general, no specific manufacturer.

My SOC made great lather right out of the box and then it kept getting better. My 1305 took awhile to break in, i was very disappointed with it but kept using it then one day it started working great and has been that way ever since. I just picked a Semogue 830, too early to tell with that one (learned my lesson with the 1305). I also have a Omega Scarlatti which is very nice. I started with badger brushes and really like them but when it comes to bang form the buck the boar wins in a landslide.

Well, it's been 16 days since I first used my SOC...and although I haven't used it for every shave, I have for at least 10. Here is an update to how it has bloomed.

It has quickly become my favorite brush...and for the price, by FAR the best value.

Not loving boars, despite the attractive price I just don't see the jaw dropping paradigm shift that others seem to find...
