Talking Finally Ordered Me Some Arko

Well,I finally decided to try out Arko and ordered a stick from Amazon today.
But what am I going to discover about Arko?I heard so much about how awesome the lather is,but conflicting reports about the smell. Some compare the scent from Williams to restroom urinal cakes.I guess we will see.If the scents anything like Williams,I can handle that. But if I dont end up liking it,I guess I can always PIF it to a member of the Arko Asylum.

Ill report my liking of it once it arrives.

The smell to me is very much like the smell of many other soapy grooming products in India, so I am quite used to it and like it (restroom urinal cakes smell good - I am from a different asylum).

If you happen to not like it, because it is a totally love or hate thing, go ahead and PIF a stick this way. No one would hate you for it. haha

It lathers like a mad dog but it smells like soap.

No fancy smanchy perfume for the brutish Turk.

It's what I grab if I am in a hurry but still want a decent lather.

If the scent is too intense for you, just leave an opened stick out in the garage for a week or so and it will settle down to a reasonable level.
    Relax...Take it easy...Enjoy the lather.

It's what I grab when I am using a new type/brand blade/razor and I want maximum lather protection. Thick creamy protective reliable lather.

Arko is top shelf product at a bottom shelf price!! It's truly one of the better deals in the entire wet shaving world. My goto is arko, I'm currently on the 30 day thread, kinda can't wait til it's over so I can go back to my beloved arko. No offense to the cella I'm using at the moment.....but u just aren't arko ;)

I can only assume urinal cakes smell differently in the US than the UK whenever I read this comparison.....because i've never smelled anything like Arko in a UK bathroom!

Finally I had the opportunity to sniff at an Arko stick thanks to syngent who PIFed me one. I didn't know what to expect from the scent but I was surprised it reminded me a home made laundry soap from the past. The smell is strong but it's fresh and not unpleasant at all. It's not something to write about. There're quite a few nice better smelling good quality shaving creams and soaps. Arko is neither bad nor good, just generic clean soapy somewhat citrusy smell which I don't mind. If I like the lather it produces, I can easily see myself using it on a trip along my Palmolive stick.

Twice the price of Williams but ten times the quality.

Excellent stuff! I think most of us like the smell, but we could be hypnotized by the smiling lathery man.

Arko not only works great--and I say that as a user of MWF, Tabac, Razorock XXX, and PdP as well--but its laundry detergent scent triggers fond childhood memories of helping (or more likely just watching) my late mother wash and fold clothes. That little stick is powerful stuff, no?

    Great everyone!
Im always tracking it everyday, cant wait for it to arrive.Ill take the advice of leaving it open to air out for a bit.If its a soapy laundry detergent smell,I can handle that.Right now,my only soap is VDH Deluxe, and as for creams,I only have Proraso.VDH works great for me,but Ive been wanting to try Arko forever.Maybe Ill try out Palmolive or a Speick stick later.

Arko smells like the Fab laundry detergent that had "lemon-freshened borax" in it, back in the 70's and 80's. That's the flashback memory it evokes in my mind, anyway.

One last word of farewell, Dear Master and Mistress.

    Whenever you visit my grave,

    say to yourselves with regret

but also with happiness in your hearts

at the remembrance of my long happy life with you:

"Here lies one who loved us and whom we loved."

No matter how deep my sleep I shall hear you,

and not all the power of death

    can keep my spirit

    from wagging a grateful tail.
