The 1520 and 1438 are also great brushes that should not be ignored. The 1520 has a slightly longer handles that makes bowl lathering easier, if you're into that.

Well my 1520 has arrived. What a nice little brush! Feels stiffer then my Kent, look forward to lathering up a bit later on today.

I have no idea what the long term effect will be, but I shake the water out of my Kent BL8 (maybe a dozen flicks of the wrist - I'm an old man with tendonitis, so I can't flick too hard) and it always seems bone dry the next day.

I have lost no hairs and will probably continue to do this unless the entire knot falls into the sink one day.

I chose to alternate my 620 with the 1460. They look like polar opposites (acrylic vs wood, painted bristles vs unpainted)
but feel practically identical to me. And the 1460 is $15!!!

I'm impressed with my first boar brush, it's softer on the face than I imagined it would be, would definitely buy another.

Since the handles are different, which do you prefer ... and why? How does each of them feel when you're holding it, and using it?

Jwilock, I really can't tell them apart nor have any strong preference. I possibly might prefer the wood handle's shape
but can't deny the purdy clear acrylic but then again I like the unpainted natural bristles better. Too close to call.
Now if Semogue makes an acrylic handle w/ the unpainted bristle w/ the same knot/loft...

I've since acquired a Vulvix boar w/ a much taller handle and I'm liking its added height and heft (very similar knot/loft)
so it's interesting to go back and forth between them.

I understand there are concerns w/ a painted wood handle whether it'd last as long but the lower price and the sexy unpainted bristles (imo more unique)
    and did I mention that it's $15?.

I think it's a case of "get them both" :-)

    Same knot/loft as the 1460? That'd be the 610.

you're right. I wanted one w/ unpainted bristles and it was either 610 or 1460. I've read that the 610/1460 knot can get
floppier over time compared to the 620. Mine are too new to see any difference yet.

What I meant was a 620 w/ unpainted bristles. The first few uses, it bled some ink but it seems stable now.

Well 3rd shave in and the mr 620 has been hideous, all i wanted in this brush was a shorter loft and a nice handle, its ULTRA stiff, i hope it gets better over time, but the first 1/2 inch from the base of the knot is HARD like the glues traveled to far up the knot.

I can imagine this to be a great face lathering brush but im mainly a scuttle user and with a decent "dollop" of taylors i barely had enough for 2 passes, i had to use some conk soap for the last pass.

i HOPE it gets better over time, my Omega smashes this out the park to be honest.

also the knot doesnt seem to want to SPLAY like other brushes.

My boars have all been pretty pathetic only 3 lathers in, so don't worry, they do get much better over time. I honestly don't even try to use them until I've palm-lathered them and let them dry out daily for about a week. It's a pain in the butt, but I think it's a small price to pay for the end result.

My only Omega is a 31064, but all of my Semogues (620, 1305, 2000, SOC, & LE1) perform MUCH better than that one.

it's been about a week since I've last used the 1460, used it again this morning and 1st pass seems plenty of backbone but by the 3rd pass it's
pretty floppy or at least floppier than the 620 as I recall. Will use 620 tomorrow to compare.

I sorta like the big chunk of glue at the base of the knot, grab it and shake out the water violently w/out worries.

That's the reason I bought the 610 instead of the 620. Well that, plus I really like the red acrylic better than the black. i realize the 610 and 620 have different knots - same size and loft, but differnt hair type. we'll see if I'm as crazy about my 610 as everyone seems to be with their 620.

I've heard that the 610 gets floppier than the 620, due to the hair used.

used 1460 yesterday and 620 this morning, I was looking for a difference thus I think the 620 is less floppy by the 3rd pass. Perhaps due to only about 6 or so lathers each, maybe the difference will be more noticeable in the long run.

As much as love my custom RV with TGN finest 2 band, I can't stop using the 620 exclusively. Which brings up another point, I hate using it everyday because the next day it still feels damp. I've been considering picking up another Semogue, maybe a 1305 or an SOC, but I just don't know if they'll fit my face like the 620 does so well.

Then this morning it hit me, why don't I just pick up another 620 and rotate the two of them? Anybody else have multiples of the same brush that they use consistently? Am I going to be missing out by not trying any other Semogue models?
Semogues have a way of doing that...I like to refer to them as the badger killer. I currently have a 1250 and have a 620 and SOC on the way...one if for my Dad for his brithday, just haven't decided which one yet.

The 610 does get floppier than the 620, as does almost every brush compared to the 620. It's important to remember that the comparisons are relative, the 610 is by no means floppy. I think you'll enjoy the 610, it's a great face latherer.
