Default What are your favorite lenses to shoot with?

Question for SLR owners. Whats your favorite lenses to shoot with(could be ones you own or someday hope to purchase)?

My current favorites(own all of these...and provided links to images/prices of the lenses.)

Tokina 11-16 f2.8 Canon mount. This lens is alot of fun to shoot with. If youve never shot with a superwide angle your missing out. Great for architecture shots.

Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro: With a Macro lens your options of what you can photograph are unlimited. Ive got some great close ups with this lens handheld too w/ 2.8f. IMO one of Canons best bang for your buck lens. Super sharp and can also serve as a portrait lens(although some have said its too sharp for portrait). Fast auto-focus.

Canon 50mm 1.8f...The best bargain lens on the market. What it lacks in build quality/slow auto focus, it makes up for in sharpness. I usually shoot with this one using manual focus anyway.

My favorite lens is the 50mm 1.4 Nikkor (non AI) on my Nikon F2. Beautiful lens and extremely sharp, and fully mechanical since there is no auto focus function on the F2.

My Canon 10-22 (digital only) is lots of fun. I'm sure it's quite similar to blary54's Tokina on the wide end, although lacking in the constant fast aperture department. Architecture and landscapes are obvious targets, but this lens is harder to master than one might think for those kinds of photos. The real fun for me is getting in close with the ultrawide--interiors and objects--the possibilities are endless.

For every day, my old, discontinued Canon 17-85 is the handiest one I own for a one-lens outing. It takes great photos, despite some criticisms you'll see on some forums.

Over the years, stretching far before the digital age, I've collected only 3 primes, but primes are best in so many ways. There should be a law requiring every Canon owner to buy a 50 mm/1.8. I paid about $50 many years ago, and it's still going strong; I think it's about $100 now. Also in the film era, I picked up an 85 mm/1.8, which continues to do a great job on portraits with the APC-1.6 sensor. Finally, I got a 28 mm/1.8 to replace the 50 as a "normal" lens for the smaller sensor. In addition to perfect color and sharpness, along with the speed, it makes the camera light enough to carry all day without strain.

(As much as I'd like to own the entire collection of "L" lenses, the weight and cost just don't seem worth it for the way I shoot.)

I keep coming back to a Nikkor 35/2 AFD. It is a great little lens- sharp, good colour rendiition and a terrific focal length on full frame. I also have a couple of fast 50mm lenses- my 50/1.2 AIs is fantastic as well.

I guess like most Canon shooters, I believe that the nifty fifty is the best bang for your buck. 24-105 is my fave walk around lens and it lives on my camera. 10-22 is a lot of fun but also a solid landscape lens for the price. 100-400 is great for birds and with a little practice it can be tack sharp. 100 f2.8 is a nice sharp lens that gets a lot of use in the yard.

For SOTD's and plants I almost only use a Minolta 50mm Macro lens.

For more versatile use I really like the Tokina 35-200mm zoom. It is a rather heavy lens, but it is a great all-rounder.

Another all-rounder that I often use is a Tamron 24-70mm zoom.
