    Default Warrior Dash

I just registered for the Ohio II Warrior Dash which is in August. I hate running, but climbing over things, crawling through mud, and drinking beer seams like it it could make the running part worth it. Can anyone who has done one of these races before give me some tips, other than to only take things I don't care about throwing away? I've already got a small group of friends committed, which will make it more fun, it'll be the first time for any of us.

You will have an absolute blast. What time is your wave? Try to do it early if you plan on running for a fast time. I don't care what my time is, I just go to have fun. A friend and I went last year and walked over half of it just talking to different people and having a good time. We went over a few of the obstacles multiple times and even had to help a lady down one who panic froze at the top of it. Turkey legs, beer, grilled corn... Honestly it's only a little over 3 miles, even if you walk the entire thing it will only take an hour. A lot of people do the course more than once also, but you only get time for one run. Take clothes to change into after, because it's a lot of fun hanging around and seeing all the costumes and people. It's more about having fun than anything else, really.

I am registered for the 11am wave, and don't really care about the time. Like you said, I'm just going to play in the mud and have a good time.

Good luck, Derrick. I had some Army buddies do the Tough Mudder, and they said it was a blast. I wanted to do the Warrior Dash in Logan, but the timing is bad, and I'll be moving out of state before the one youre doing.

The Warrior Dash was yesterday, and we had a blast. The running went better than I expected, and to anyone with a moderate level of athleticism the obstacles were on the easy side yet still fun. My only gripe would be that the obstacles need to be able to accommodate a larger flow of people. Many of them had lines you had to wait in, and somehow I always ended up behind someone without that moderate level of athleticism. I bought a mountain hardwear kilt wear for the race and it worked well, and struck the right balance of form, function, and ridiculousness.

Sounds like fun--I'm glad you've enjoyed it. My daughter has been trying to get me to run the Tough Mudder with her and she's always forwarding me links to races. It's been a long time since I've done anything like this, so maybe we'll give it a shot.

Yikes! I feel sorry for those behind you as you were scaling any walls!
