Default Brush size relative to amount of cream loaded

Do bigger brushes need more cream and soap loaded before they make lather? I have been noticing that I have to work a little harder to lather with my giant 28mm TGN brush versus my smaller Shea Moisture brush from Target. I notice this with my boar brushes as well. I would have to work a little harder and longer to make lather on my Omega 49 versus my smaller VdH Boar.

It could be my technique, but I doubt it. I always end up with great lather either ways, but I work harder and longer (swishing the brush in the bowl) to make lather with bigger brushes. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

I find that I have to load longer w/my 49 than Berkeley. More knot, more product.

I think it's reasonable to assume that you end up with both a brush and bowl filled. The bigger brush holds more lather internally.

Yes, my experience is the same...more brush=more product.

yep. agreed on the size. i also think the more dense a brush is the more lather it will "hog" so it will need more product in order to give you better performance. not always the case, but generally what i've experienced in my brushes.

Add to that: More dense = More product

Yeah, my Duke 2 really needs a lot more product to produce a good lather than my Vulfix or my TGN re-knot brush. All are about the same size knot. The only variable is density.

Great point! I forgot about the density factor.
