Default Not nearly as much hype as I expected for the Tradere razor....

Usually when a new razor is introduced into the community there is a flurry of activity, at least for a while. The Weber thread must've been 45 pages long, if not considerably longer. The R41 threads had to be merged into one huge thread; who knows how long it was?

So, I expected a lot of chat and buzz when this razor was introduced. Or, at least a lot of opinions about how it shaved, etc. But that hasn't materialized. The largest thread so far is about whether people want to polish the handle.

What's the deal? Why haven't we heard more about the razor?

Not very many people have their hands on one yet.

Never heard of it until just now. Looks interesting, but what is it made of?

Both the Weber and the R41 were at a better price point, which may have helped sales and subsequent discussion of each.

Solid stainless- handle, baseplate & cover. More stylin' machinin' done, so it is more expensive than Weber. Its my favorite DE, now.

All SS, Machined parts, nothing like the R41 This razor is in a defferent league, more like the Feather AS D-1, Pils ?

I love mine. Can't wait for the slant to come out. It is solid SS with a brushed stainless handle and polished head. It is a great razor at a great price for solid machined stainless. Shaves like a dream.

I think for many, the higher cost has made them hesitant to purchase till there is more feedback....and to see if there are newer revisions in production.....both weber and iKon made major changes between production runs.

I would LOVE to get a head only, but can't justify the cost of that razor right now...I have purchased a few razor in the last month( one of the was a new fatip...remaining were vintage) that total combined is way less than the cost of the tradere....I can appreciate the beauty, the craftsmanship and materials, but the price point is kinda steep for my pockets....

Yeah, there is that. I liked the Weber, being US made, SS, etc., but it was just a bit too industrial, for my taste, at the price. I sold a custom knife to fund my Tradere, so having an alternate hobby may help, depending on your priorities.

I've been a hardcore vintage guy, and this was the first modern razor that tickled my fancy- and I couldn't be happier. Matter of fact, I believe a few of my vintage babies will be in the BST, as my "optimum shave" search is pretty well over, between the tradere, my SEs and a few straights.

I suppose I would equate Tradere with a Camaro- little "hotter" and more expensive than an El Camino(Weber), no "Corvette" (iKon, Pils)name.

I use 3 DE's now and the rest are gathering dust. Weber, Tradere, and an R89. The Tradere is the best of the 3.

Fatip...the best modern razor I've found. I'm currently using it with a Tradere handle.

I use the nickel-plated Fatip head with my Weber Classic handle. It's a great combination. Quite an aggressive shaver, that Fatip.

I think it's worth the wait. I used it at a shallow angle today and will try it at progressively more aggressive angles in the coming week. I really like it because it balances well in my hand and gives a great shave.
