    Default Cold water shave

I tried the cold water shave this morning with some Proraso green ( old formula). I found it to be quite refreshing, especially since the past few days have been pretty hot here. My skin felt quite nice after, but I will keep at it for the rest of the week to give it a proper judgment. Don't know if I would use cold water in the winter, though. What do cold shave fans generally use for prep? Prep as usual for a hot shave or altered?

I am a cold water shaver and my prep did not change. I still talk a shower at a temperature that is comfortable, although many would think it is cold. I load my brush with VDH, and then add my choice of cream or soap to bowl, and some cold water build a lather. I rinse the razor in cold water, rinse face between passes and at end of the shave in cold water.

It has been 2 or 3 months since I started cold water shaving and will never look back.

    Enjoy your cold water shaves.

I've tried cold water shaving a few times over the last couple of weeks.

I really like the results so far. My skin feels less sensitive when using cold water.

I really like a cold water rinse, but so far I prefer a warm shave. But it isn't summer in MS yet.

Ive been thinking about trying this cold water shaving. My skin feels dried out after shaving and i think it might be because of hot water. But, maybe Im wrong? Anyone know??

I just splash a couple handfuls of cold water on my face and then lather up, letting the lather set for 2 or 3 minutes before I start to shave. Occasionally I will put the lather on and then hold a cold washcloth on it for a couple of minutes, but I can't tell that this does anything more than just a few splashes of cold water.

I'm in Florida so I find myself really enjoying the cold water shave and any mentholated product I can squeak into the routine. There's something really refreshing about that cold steel cutting through cold water with plenty of rinsing afterward.
    Enjoy!

I've gradually made my way over to cold water shaving. I find it helps reduce irritation and is very refreshing.

I'm in North Florida also Brian, and you are spot on about the mentholated products.
I find myself reaching for Proraso soap and the Osage Rub all the time this time of year.

I've been cold water shaving for a couple of weeks and like it. My prep has not changed, warm shower to soften wiskers is a must for me along with a good washing of the face and neck. Then cold tap water at the sink for the rest. I'm in Kansas and the temperature and humidity is rising. Cold water is refreshing, especially with C.O. Bigelow and Proraso pre/post afterwards. Absolutely enjoyable!
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Is there any true benefits to cold water shaving or is it just more "refreshing"? Can you get as close of a shave using cold water?

I cold water shave mainly because of my crappy sink, which either has burning hot water or cold comfortable water.

I cold water shave in the Spring, Summer and Fall, I only warm water shave when it gets cold.

Day two with the cold water shave. Usual prep, Arko, alum, finished with Spanish floid. Very refreshing, going to be a definite staple in my routine. I have visited Florida in the summer, way to hot for me, but I imagine the cold water/menthol combo would be the ticket. Plus, the cold water really elevates the subtle bouquet of the Arko
