Yeah, I used it back in the 80's along with the mug and soap. (By the way, the soap is very nice if you can find it!) Back to the brush, it's bristle and will soften up with use - more than the VDH, but will not get as soft as a Semogue or Omega. I used mine for approximately 8 years until I dropped it and broke the handle.

The brush was part of the Avon Gentleman's Regiment collection from around 1982. It is a nice looking set. The soap is very nice and I believe was tallow base. I had a relative that sold Avon so I have several sets and still have some of the soap that I enjoy using from time to time. The brush is bristle and does soften up.

Here's a picture of the brush, mug and talc tin. They also had an AS bottle. Most often the scent was Wild Country. Like Rivguy, I still have some of the soap and enjoy it from time to time, although the scent is essentially gone.

One thing is sure with this brush, you don't need to participate in the debate of bristles up or bristles down. I used to let it lie across the mouth of the mug to dry and never had an issue!

That was my practice as well. I just might have to break out that brush again. It has been a while since I have used it. I used the soap last week and really enjoyed it. I do like some of the vintage soaps.

avon used to make some cool things, but i hve never seen the brush before, laying it down seem to be the only option in my den too, or at least the safest one
