    Gentlemen,

In my earlier review of the da vinci brush I mentioned a brush cleaning soap that is manufactured by the makers of the da vinci brush. I used it for the first time a few days ago and was very impressed so today I washed a few more and I am very pleased with the results. The soap comes in a nice tin and I used it much like one would a round of shaving soap. It has a very pleasant citrus/lime scent and produces a great lather that one could almost think you could use to shave. I hand lathered and gently worked the lather into the brush and then very thoroughly rinsed the brush. Most of my brushes are silvertip and a noticeable brightening resulted. I recommend both this product and the vendor which is http://promakeupbrush.com. The cost is twelve dollars but if you purchase it with a brush I would think that the first time buyer discount may apply.

    Best regards,

    Doug

I've seen some DaVinci brushes in a local store called Douglass Cosmetics, which also carried a lot of Muhle brushes, but no razors. Their brushes are impressive, especially the Silvertip Travel Brush, but priced too high for a relatively unknown brand. The store where I saw them has since gone out of business.

DaVinci also makes their own brand of shaving soap, but I didn't get a chance to try it, and I've never seen it reviewed.

Thanks for the tip about this brush cleaning soap. I had no idea such an item existed. I use J&J Baby Shampoo on mine, but I haven't cleaned any of my brushes in close to a year, so its time.

Maybe, just maybe, one of our resident e-vendors will pick up on this product and start carrying it in the own stores.

Does it completely remove the residue and the build-up around the knot?

    Gentlemen,

Today the brushes are dry and sparkling clean. I am very impressed with my first big test of this soap. I do use some of the deeply colored creams like rose and violet which I use in rotation so that I have never noticed any discoloration but this soap has restored the brightness of the silvertip hair to a point that I think it looks as good as new. I do rinse my brushes thoroughly after each use so I do not have much build up in the knot but upon examination, I think that it has done a very thorough job. I did not do much more than a thorough hand lather with the soap making sure that the lather penetrated the entire brush. I did not "scrub" them excessively hard as I did not want to damage the hair but I did work it in gently with my fingers. Over all I am very pleased with the results. I think that this product is a winner.

    Regards,

    Doug

I am sorry for the late post dpm802 but I have been away all day. The ingredients in order are as follows: Sodium palmate, sodium palm kernelate, aqua, sucrose cocoate, sodium chloride, perfume. While I have used other products like shampoo, dish soap and borax, I am very pleased with the results of this product. When I consider that this product is formulated by a high end brush manufacturer just for brushes, coupled with the excellent results I was able to see, I think that this product has a place in my shave den. After cleaning six brushes, I think that it will last a very long time making it a good value in my view.

    Regards,

    Doug

Does it eliminate the soap residue that builds up in the bottom of the knot?

I get the feeling this is geared towards removing greasy makeup residue from makeup brushes - not sure how a soap (which this is) could remove soap?
