ah the VI bay rum, famous for the "fires of hell" burn. dilute it with water or learn to love the burn!

There is a reason that this smiley is tagged "bayrum2"

But seriously... Lilac Veg and Virgin Island Bay Rum are the two most "burning" aftershaves that I own, followed closely by Clubman in 2nd place and Special Reserve in 3rd.
Floid Blue, Captain's Choice, and Ogallala bay rum are much more mellow.

The burn on my clubman vanilla starts out painful, nearly too much. But quickly it fades to something that is not burning, but warming and soothing. To me it feels like health.

Lately I have been using PinMaster bay rum (combine Pinaud and Master bay rum in my hand then apply).

Seems to calm the burn. Both smell different but when combined WOWZERS it is NICE...

Mix it with a little 444 balm, and it takes the edge off a little, and adds a little moisturizer.

This is wild! For me, Clubman (I am assuming you are talking about "Original") has almost no burn, and Ogallala burns like the ninth level of Hell. But I love the scent of my Ogalala so much I have learned that if I add a bit of glycerin and let some of the "Rum" burn off, takes away almost all of the burn.

Oh yeah! It burns so good!!! I second the motion for the "PinMaster", 50/50 blend. The Masters tames and mellows the hell-fire of the VIBR. You might also want to try taming it down with witch hazel. Thumbs up on a little glcerine too. I have been adding about 1 drop per once to almost all mt AS splashes.

My face must be made of iron because I do not get a burn from VIBR. Even after a very close shave with my Astra blades, the VIRB goes on easy for me.
