Default Updated Italian Floid Amber Bottle (The Genuine)

I just got a bottle a few days ago and the bottle doesn't look like the one we all are familiar with. It looks like the Spanish Floid bottles. Anyone else know anything about this? I was told from the vendor that they must've updated the bottle.... he assured me that it was "The Genuine" Italian Floid Amber and that it came in his most recent shipment from Italy. I learned after looking at my bottle of Italian Floid Blue that it is made in Spain by the Colomer Group.... the same as the Spanish Floid Vigoroso and Suave.

Interesting. I was a little upset at first that it didn't look like my bottle of Italian Floid Blue..... but I realize that things change and as long as the juice is the same, that's all that really matters. Then I realized too that I must be one of the first people to get it in the updated bottle.... it didn't take me long to feel better.

Pictures? Is this new one the 400ml or the smaller bottle? Only the 400ml is the large, round bottle like we always see the Blue in.

From left to right: Italian Floid Blue, Italian Floid Amber "The Genuine" (new updated bottle), and Spanish Floid Vigoroso "Special Edition"

They are all in 400 ml bottles. You can see the difference in color of the Italian Floid Amber and the Spanish Floid Vigoroso.

Interesting... totally different artwork and cap.

Edit: Just noticed the atomizer tops. Are the original caps the same domed plastic as the original?
Also, that artwork looks more like a sticker than screened on, right?
Looks like they found a way to save a few bucks.

Yes, the caps are the same domed black plastic ones and yes, the artwork are sticker labels on both the front and the back. My theory is that they've updated the artwork on the Italian Floid Amber to match the artwork on the current Spanish Floid Vigoroso and Suave bottles, and with the Italian Floid Blue having been discontinued, all of the Floid products will have the same look. It's ust a theory and I may be completely wrong. I'm only guessing. Even the vendor I bought it from did not seem to have any knowledge of the update in bottle design.

Oddly enough.... I got each bottle from a different vendor:

    - Italian Floid Blue (Italianbarber.com)
    - Italian Floid Amber "The Genuine" (shaving.ie)
    - Spanish Floid Vigoroso "Special Edition" (West Coast Shaving)

For what it's worth I asked if there was any difference in smell between the Spanish and Italian and the answer was they smell similar but not the same.

Do Italian Floid bottles typically have Spanish address on the back label (as these bottles appear to have)?

Currently they do. I think that they are all made by the Colomer Group in Spain. I don't know the history behind them though.... like when the Italian Floid started to be made in Spain. All I know is all of the bottles that I received in the past month have the Spanish Address on the back.

My understanding is that Floid has always been a product of Spain... Since 1932.

I just checked shaving.ie website and they have updated the pictures for the Italian Floid Amber. Chris from shaving.ie told me he was going to do that when I asked him about it but I didn't think he would get around to it so quickly. There you can see a direct comparison between the old and new.

Thanks, Ben. I am glad to see shaving.ie changed their website - that is good for both consumer and vendor (avoid the confusion from the onset).

I realize this started as a Floid bottle thread. I have been reading a lot here on the praises for the Floid AS varieties. I was cautious about the cost but with so much high praise I am getting ASAD flare-up! Can some of you experienced Floid users describe the scents of the Blue and Amber or point me to a thread if this has already been discussed? Thanks for your help.

I notice in that Shaving101 review it says of the Spanish varieties "Both smell similar to the Italian Floïd".

But the two Italian Floïds smell completely different - anyone have any idea which one the Spanish versions are supposed to smell like?

I would say the Floid Amber. Forgive me, but, the Vigoroso.... the first time I smelled it.... brought to my mind the smell of the urinal cakes they put in public restrooms to "freshen things up". Not exactly a bad smell on its own.... but when I associate a scent with something it's hard to forget and be unbiased. Scent aside, I love the cool rush of menthol from Vigoroso. To my nose, the Spanish Floids smell the most alike. Suave, to me, is a lighter Vigoroso scent. The Italian Amber is "powdery" I guess.... for lack of a better word. The Italian Blue is clean and leathery. I'm most drawn to the Blue.... probably because it's been discontinued . Figures.

OK, thanks - that suggests the Vigoroso might be worth having in addition to the Italian Genuine.

And yes, I'd describe the scent of the Italian Amber Genuine as like talcum powder - I like it a lot. Don't know how to describe Blue, because I don't have any similar references.
