    Default Calani Oriental Plum

Did you get any love from the Oriental Plum?? Contains lanolin.. Apparently Cathy (the owner) made this soap came alive after having some serious chats with the people at the Gut Rasiert wetshaving forum. Some serious guys. I am so close on the buy button now... Lanolin.

Remember that someone here had good things to say about it. Try a search on Calani or on plum here in the soap forum to see what pops up.

I know a few people who have calani soaps in their top three rotation, but not sure about the plum itself, there is three others in the lineup that im going to pick up for sure though, these are supposed to be great soaps

I read some good reviews about the Calanis and I am closing in. I had a chat with the owner and the Plum is supposed to be a best seller of herīs.

Well this soap- with lanolin -composed after various comments from the well re-knowed (to say the least) german speaking shaving forum sures looks something.. Ok- to make in plain text folks- I want to read those fab reviews of yours(!) After my experience with Klar`s Kabinett (TRULY excellent) a Klarīs Seifen (Klassik) is on the way. I am also considering Dr. Dittmars Spezial.

Calani is among the very very best. The only products that even compare IMHO are Klar Seifen and MdC. I bought it without finding nearly reviews at all, and was stunned at the performance

Great, the Plum is on my list now. Apparently ALL of her soaps are supposed to be top notch but I was especially interested in this flavour, mostly beacause she composed it after having lenghty discussions with the Gut Rasiert wetshaving forum. She is a very active member at that forum. If I remember Cathyīs answer the p&p for us Europeans was about 6 euro. Fixed price. So it would probably make sense to order 3 soaps right away. I donīt know if you could buy the Calanis from other (European) vendors.

Barbaro di Fiagaro carries it, but I don't think they carry all the scents.

Royalshave carries the brand stateside, and I know they are acquiring more scents. Those are the only 3 places I know to get it.

I do remember that Calani has its own web site; I looked it up some months ago. It is in German but has a translator "built in". They have a host of different soap/bath products, as I recall. Believe you can order direct from them, but also suspect that shipping would be high.

For guys in the US it is cheaper to order directly from Canali in Germany. The soap is cheaper and shipping is $10.80 (8.5 Euros) I added a lot of stuff to the order though, so it may be slightly less.

I noticed the lack or reviews also and look forward to doing a critical write-up on the shave soaps and aftershave. What other soap can you guys compare it to?

I'm hopeful that this is not a product that got hyped above its true quality. That happens sometimes when an artisan gets personally involved with the forums. The emperor has no clothes scenario. We shall soon see.

True indeed. Looking forward to a fresh review. Also if the lanolin content is a hype or not. Lastly, Cathy the owner, writes terrific English so donīt hesitate reaching her by e-mail.

I'll admit I'm a bit excited to test the scents. Her soaps are known to fill the room much like tabula rasa.

I do have Canali Dubai. The scent is sweet amber; very similar to Mama Bear's Sandalwood and Vanilla. Haven't used it much, not enough to do a real review.

i have the oriental plum and it's a wonderful soap. i have highland honey on deck after the plum runs out. i find it likes to be lathered a bit on the dry side, and takes a bit longer with a bit more water for the lather to firm up, but when it does....it makes for a fantastic shave. i wish it got more love here because it's definitely worthy.

That's right. We don't actually stock the soaps of Calani. We have a short line and when someone wants to add these soaps to their order, we can have them pretty quick. It's more like a service.

    Bye,

My post was referring to guys ordering Calani from RoyalShave in the US, which price is much higher per puck. I think that is a good service Eric!
