Same here. The pat-action isn't a slap, but it will run off my palms and down my wrists too fast for a casual rub, so I pat it on rapidly, and only then smear / rub it around. Witch Hazel, I use in slightly larger amounts, and practically slap that on . .

I like to slap it on HARD. Until my face is practically bleeding. That way, I know I've done a good job.
