    Default R41 + Feather blade= great combination

    Hi all.
For quite a few months I have been using an R89 and various blades but have felt dissatisfied with my shave.
The R89 felt too mild and it took me too many passes to get all the stubble leading to irritation, and different blades didnt seem to make a difference with them all feeling dull.
A few weeks back I purchased an R41 and have been playing around with a few different blades- Astra SP, Personna red etc.
The key with the R41 for me seems to be a feather light touch, a shallow blade angle, and respect.
Those blades still felt a little dull to me and even inconsistent- some days I would get a great shave and I would think I had found the right combination and other days the shave felt very rough like my prep was lacking but I had followed the same routine etc.
So I thought id try the sharpest blade around and seeing as its Japanese made, I knew the quality and consistency would be good.
What a very nice smooth shave!
I had three days growth and my first WTG pass was the closest I have gotten.
Another WTG/XTG pass and that was all that was needed- I dont go for BBS, my skin is too sensitive.
No registerable irritation with the 10% alcohol Thayers witch hazel.

For the record I used Tabac soap and have sensitive fair skin with light red facial hair and this combination which is said to be aggressive, and is, works well for me providing I pay due respect to them.
    -Michael.

    Congrats!
R41+feather is simply too aggressive for me. But then it may be jsut due to me going for BBS everytime.

    Thanks man.
I do shave very slowly and carefully but I have to do that with any razor/blade combo anyway.
No Mantic or Geo shave speed for this cowboy!!
I really love the efficiency of the R41, and I quite like the feel of the blade on my skin.
    Its a very interesting razor.

R41/Feather is my daily go to, and gets me to a smooth shave easier, and faster than any other razor. I usually go for BBS, but when I'm in a hurry, I can get DFS in 1 pass plus a little touch up with this combo. I'm glad you're having great shaves with it!

I wanted another blade to be best.
The Astra SP works well in it, just like Crystals, 7 OC Yellows.
I want a o.20 cent blade to work rather then a 0.50 cent blade.
But I'm afraid after all this testing I've found that the blade that works BEST (especially on the chin area) for ME are the Feathers.
It just works. No pressure, slight flattening of the skin and of they fly.
Now to find them in bulk. Stupid 30% tax when importing into EU countries.

This is my combo. All I use. I still have to try other blades with the R41 but I doubt they will satisfy me as much as the Feather. They also used to be the only blades I liked in my HD.

+1!! best prices on feathers......I may have to revisit the feathers in my R41......first time thought they were too harsh in that razor, and prefer the Iridiums and Gillette blacks.....but the feathers get a lot of love in the R41.......hmmmmm

Feather was the first blade I used in my R41, and it works very well. But my regular blade for it is now the Iridium Super, which feels better on my face while shaving me just as close - and they last for more shaves than Feathers. I recently tried a 7 O'C black in it, and that is excellent too.

Yeah I will have to shave regularly with the Feathers to see if I can use them every shave.
Yesterday the shave was just so smooth, no harshness like some complain of.
Love Japanese stuff- cars etc- well made.

R41 and Feather is my most reliable combo. Other blades work good with the R41 but as long as I pay attention to what I'm doing a Feather on it's 1st or 2nd shave is hard to beat.
