Welcome to the club! Great choices. I love revolvers and a 4-inch Model 686 .357 Magnum is an extremely useful handgun that covers a wide range of uses. The Smith & Wesson Shield is apparently a hit with the firearms forums crowd. I've not seen one yet but most are liking them and finding them to be dependable.

Good for you, Rudy! Nice choices in your acquisitions. Enjoy shooting them. I have a couple of S&W revolvers, an old Model 19 and a new 638, and they shoot really well. My favorite pistol is an Israeli Baby Eagle 9mm. For a .22 plinker, I favor the Ruger Mach series- inexpensive, reliable and a heck of a lot of fun.

Wow, you have to wait for a handgun permit just to purchase in NJ. What a waste. I guess that is better than NYC where I could not even legally mail an air gun to my nephew for his birthday. I had to send it to their Massachusetts weekend home.

In Nevada, they do a quick background check, and nick you for $25 each purchase, but it only takes 20 minutes and you are out of the store. Concealed carry permits are required here, but open carry is permitted without a permit.
