Hello Gentlemen
I have just joined B&B and wanted to check in and say hello. I have been doing a lot of reading and I must say the tutorials and information here is just amazing.
I have been wet shaving for about 3 months now and I'm hooked! I never thought such a mundane chore would turn into such a pleasurable time to pamper and call it if you will, a hobby.
I was curious for some time and loved the whole idea of wet shaving. I like the nostalgia of it. I like the machismo that goes with it as well. But what I found most about it was I got the best shave of my life.
When I told my 78 yr old mother that I started wet shaving she got very emotional because it brought back memories of my grandfather as she used to watch him wet shave all the time as a young girl. A favorite pastime of daughters it seems.I have many fond memories of putting shaving cream on my daughters faces as they watched me shave. When I showed her my shave set she couldn't resist rubbing my save brush on her face as if to be lathering her face. It was very cute. She then took a deep inhale of my brush to take in the scent of D.R. Harris Marlbouroh. Im sure she went right back to when she was a little girl. Priceless moment.
So anyway, my tools, my starter kit is as follows-
Edwin Jagger Chatsworth DE razor with super badger brush set
Sara Bonnyman "Moss" Scuttle 5 yr anniversary set
I just ordered my first straight razor-
Dovo 6/8 Flowing, full hollow w/ African Blackwood scales
Strop- American Strop Co. 3x22 leather stoned oil strop
3x 22 nylon strop for pastes
I would appreciate any feedback on the "tools of the trade" I did some research but I am a rookie after all.
I am very excited about being a member here and learning as much as I can. From the posts that I have read it I have certainly come to the right place.
