One of my all time favorite lines is what Sasha Baron Cohen's Bruno called Brad Pitt.

Yeah, I would have let Chanel use my face, but I didn't want to give up shaving.

lol...you stole the words from my mouth.

Seems like the shaggy look will never die. Whatever floats their boat I guess.

Come on now, he's Pitt. Why the hate? They had Scorsese direct a Bleu ad, which I found more odd than this.

I'm really excited to see how this goes. I have ridiculously high hopes.

...Seriously. I love the idea of new line of marketing. Scorsese didn't do much in terms of creating something new imho. Having a dude the focus of a classically huge femme frag has a lot of possibilities.

Yes, I knew this would turn out to be interesting for conversation. Regardless of his looks, I think he's a great actor (Benjamin Button, Snatch, Fight Club) even though not all of his movies are 5-star material. Besides, he cleans up well and maybe he'll shave for Chanel.

Now, I know it isn't political, but bashing Brad Pitt isn't the point here. The point is that he's the first male face for Chanel No. 5, a perfume that I can't even come close to wearing. There was recently a post about gender specified fragrances, and in that post Miss Dior Cherie and Sarah Jessica Parker were almost challenged as male fragrances and I responded that I in fact actually do own MDC (but SJP). Surely, Brad Pitt as the face for No. 5 is an argument for men wearing definitively female fragrances.

One of the reasons, I looking forward to it is simply to see how they put it all together. and I agree, i think it's fun topic to discuss.

my hunch is that BP will not be wearing it himself. I don't think there is even a smidgen of a chance that Chanel would market #5 for a man to wear himself.

If all the women in your life started stealing your frags, what would you wear then?

And just what is the absolute definition of women's and men's perfume (cologne, edt etc.) anyway. Is it defined by the marketing accompanying it? Is it the general smell? The shape of the bottle? What 'real men' would and would not wear?
Or is it just in the mind of the smellers and the smellees?

Well they wouldn't be in my life, so that answers that one.

I have yet to smell any fragrance marketed to women that I would want to wear myself, and there are plenty fragrances marketed to men that I won't wear because they smell "feminine" to me. I am well aware that any given fragrance will smell differently when applied to different skin, more so between the sexes.

Whatever it is, I'm almost certain that whatever one determines as smelling masculine or feminine is quite probably established in our early years. Male and female body odour smells quite different, without fragrance applied. I suppose I wear fragrances that reflect what I consider to be representative of male body odour as opposed to that of the female.

I don't feel any temptation to wear my partner's underwear, ergo I have no urge to wear a fragrance that smells of flowers or vanilla. But each to their own, YMMV etc etc...

Don't forget Twelve Monkeys and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
