Default what safety razor do you use to shave your head?

what safety razor do you use to shave your head?

for the moment that I shave my head with a Gillette Mach 3 razor.

but I would like a DE razor for my head I've been using a DE razor on my face.

what do you use and what do you recommend?

I think of the The Merkur 45 Bakelite safety razor, because it is light razor.

I find that I need to use relatively aggressive razors on my head, otherwise it becomes a very time consuming task to shave my head.

The best razors I've found so far are:

Muhle R41 Grande (and a Muhle R41 head with a Tradere handle)
Ikon S3S (with Ikon Classic and OSS handles)
Gillette Long Comb New (with Bob's Razor Works XL and XXL handles)
    Gillette Super Adjustable (setting 9)
    Gillette Slim (setting 9)
    Merkur Futur (setting 6.5)
    Merkur Slant
Myatt Daymark (with a longer heavier modern handle - it isn't that easy to fit a standard DE blade to the Daymark but it is possible and it does work well).

I find the general rule to be that longer, heavier, handles are far better, although for some reason a short handled Slant worked perfectly and gave one of the mellowest head shaves I've ever had.

The R41 is by far the best performing of the bunch but can shave too closely and leave a bit of irritation from time to time. I can't shave with it daily as it would be too uncomfortable over time. All of the other razors I've mentioned I can use daily without issue.

I don't use a DE on my head, largely because i've used the same kind of disposable for years and get BBS every time shaving only ATG. I use a Wilkinson Sword Extreme III and have done for more than ten years. The blade bends enabling it to adjust perfectly (for me at least) to the contours of my head. For me, a shave simply couldn't be any better, so i've never seen any reason to change to a DE up there. I headshave 3-4 times a week.

I've been using for years Gillette Mach3 to shave my head.
one pass ATG , but blades cost too much money and would like to replace it.

I shave my head every two days.

I can get a great head shave with a Weber DLC Bulldog...

Having said that I've come to learn that nothing works better or faster for me than a Headblade Sport while in the shower.I use Gillette Atra Cartridges on the Headblade, they cost about a dollar a piece at the grocery store but cheaper online...I shave 7 days a week, one Atra cartridge lasts 7 days.

*The Atra double blade cartridges are more effective (agressive) than the triple blade Headblade branded cartridges and cost half as much or less.

My teachnique's almost machine like and requires very little concentration after gaining a little experience.(a light touch helps)

I begin with a generous amount of Rise clear shave gell and starting from the front I use exceptionally fast back & forth front to back strokes while letting the Headblade slide from one side of my head to the other while also gradually moving towards the back. For back of head I start from my neck and do the same fast short up and down strokes gradually towards the top of my head while sliding side to side.------It works out to provide a lot of ATG shaving.

A final pass directly under the shower head water flow and the result is ultra smooth and irritation free.

The Headblade's easy, relatively fast and highly effective.Afterwards I enjoy a leisurely DE face shave.

Cart, Sensor or Mach 3, have used a Wilkinson Classic, Feather Popular but currently it's a Lady Gillette DE, had an extra one and gave it a go. Works well

I was shaving my 'nogging' once a week (Sundays), using either my Merkur's 23C OR 38C using Shark SC blades, but now have changed to using single-blade disposables for speed and convenience and actually get a BBS headshave (Yeah Baby!!!), without any problems, nicks and bumps.

I tried a couple of DE razors but takes to long and an occasional nick. Not worth it to me.

I use Quattros, 2 passes with the second one Braille/feel and get silky smooth results.

I can get these carts for $1 a piece, one cart lasts 25 to 30 days.

Same one(s) I use to shave my face. If it works on the face it works well on the scalp, but I will say that Red Tip, slim on 6, and Slant work exceptionally well on my head. I like an open comb like Gillette NEW when I let it grow out a bit, say 3-7 days growth, although the slant also works well for that.

I use the Mach3 on the melon mainly because I find it's damn near impossible to cut or nick myself. Been working for years now. I still do the DE for the rest.

As much as I love my EJ89L for my face shaves... it doesn't (at this time) do well on the noggin'. So far I get great head shaves with my Gillette Tech, Feather Popular, and Lord Premium L6.
