Default Flare Tip tore me up

    Is it usually considered aggressive?

Not really. Could just be the razor. I have two. My grandfather's was placed in a shadow box with his pipe, picture and tobacco tin. It just tended to leave me with weepers. The other one I have never gave me a problem.

I think this was my grandfather's. I had to try it, but had more weepers than usual and a little bit of burning.

I never had any irritation from a flare, what blade did you use in it? Could be too dull of a blade for such a mild razor.

It was a 3rd use Feather. I try razors with a Feather, and blades with the Krona. I had better luck out of a LC New with the Feather.

I find the Flare Tip to be more "rough" than "aggressive." For me, it doesn't have the effectiveness of the aggressive razors I generally prefer, is prone to deliver minor weepers and razor burn when I work for my customary BBS shave, and this feeling is pretty consistent no matter which I'm using of the 5 examples I own. I know lots of our fellows like it, and I can get along with it pretty well these days, but the '40s-style SS is a much better machine in my book. I rank it well above the black-handled SS, though.

Three shaves is pushing it on a feather for me, but that should be a great combo.

Want color knob was on this Flare Tip. A red tip from the 50s would be more aggressive than say a silver or blue tip.
Also does the blade exposure look the same on both edges and everything look square / symmetrical?

It is shiny silver (nickel). I get a much better shave from a 40'ss. I have a blue I only used once for the same reason. And usually 3 shaves is good for me on a feather.
