TOBS lemon lime

I was previously using co bigelow with proraso pre/post shave cream. I was loving this combo, however I had heard a lot of good things about tobs and am a citrus fan so decided to give it a try.
Well I got it and began lathering up, I was pretty impressed and really looking forward to my shave. Unfortunately I soon felt it irritating my skin. I've tried it on several occasions and even before starting shaving, wit the lather on my face, I feel burning.

Has anyone else had this happen? I've read it could be the citrus..but I'm curious if I should try the sensitive skin tobs or try a different brand all together. Obviously this is a YMMV type of thing but just looking for some feedback or opinions

I don't have anything 'lime'. This thread has got me curious about all things lime. :D
Available locally (for me) are:
a. Old spice lime
b. Godrej lime

Are these any good?

The TOBS line is great, and you'll find that it has a few creams with great moisturizing properties: Avocado, Rose, and Almond come to mind. And, of course, their sensitive skin cream.

Citrus creams, lime in particular, are well known for irritation. Of course, they don't irritate everyone, but it's one of the common things. I get irritation from TOBS Lemon/Lime as well, although I have the old formula (before the paraben free). Actually, all the 3T lime creams give me irritation.

If you want something citrus, try Cyril Salter Sublime Citrus. I got it, and it is an amazing scent - and no irritation. It has grapefruit and lemon essential oil in it, and grapefruit and lemon is actually what it smells like too. Doesn't cost much more than TOBS either.

I love the Godrej Lime, I have never used the old spice lime but have some regular Old Spice shave cream, in my opinion, you really can't go wrong with any of the Indian shave creams, great bang for your buck. You may have Dettol fresh there too, its sort of a lime scent but it smells a little like cleaner, performs great though

I really like the lather, except for the irritation, so i might end up getting a different scent to try out.
should i go for the sensitive skin formula? or you you guys think any scent besides the lemon/lime should be non-irritating?

As far as the TOBS goes, I believe their avocado is also supposed to be good for sensitive skin.

Assuming that most of you have actually tried the TOBS lemon-lime scent, can you tell me if it has a different consistency than the other TOBS Creams? I tried this scent for the first time a few months back and I noticed it lacked the plastic cover that usually comes over the cream and the consistency was very fluid/creamy, I could stick my finger in and swirl it around the tub. This is much different than my other TOBS Creams which are much denser and I wondering if maybe I had been sent a used tub.

I would check the ingredients. TOBS reformulated all of their creams relatively recently - there is still old formula stock around. The new formula does not have any parabens in it, the older formula does. The reformulation could be the cause of the differences you experience.

I have several new formula samples, and a tube of old formula lemon/lime. The samples appear drier than the tube cream, but not by much. If I wanted to I could swirl my finger in the new formula creams. Also, the tube could be a slightly different formula to the tub, as squeezing dry cream out of a tube could be difficult.

Bottom line: check the ingredients. If one has parabens and one doesn't, you have different formula creams, which would most likely be the cause.

I believe that TOBS creams all vary in consistency. I have the Rose, Lemon/Lime, and Mr Taylors creams. The Rose is the softest, followed by the Lemon/Lime, and the Mr Taylors is the firmest, all are topnotch performers though

I had the same burning sensation with TOBS avocado, and I was about to trash the entire container. However, I read on B&B that it can occasionally happen if you are using too much cream. I reduced to a less-than-almond-sized portion of cream and that did the trick. Since then I have never had a problem with the avocado or any of the other delightful TOBS creams (including lemon lime).

Yes I have had the same experience with this lemon and lime cream such a shame because its such a great scent, as you are a citrus fan may i recomend Trueffit and Hills West indian lime range the cologne is fantastic and the creams cause me no irritation.

I have been DE shaving for only a month now, and had burning the first two times I used the Sandolwood cream. I was almost going to throw my tub out as well, because I thought I was allergic to it. However, I stuck with it. I have used Proraso cream, Truefitt and Hill, and TOBS. So far, TOBS is the best cream of the bunch. I no longer get that burning, which is probably due to better technique. The ingredients do say it contains a form of alcohol. What I was thinking is that I was using too much, and also maybe it had something to do with the ingredients layered towards the top of the tub. I no longer get any burning, and it provides me with my most comfortable lubrication for shaves. Less product has helped a bunch. I now only take the recommended almond size and it provides with so much lather.

I haven't tried Old Spice lime, but the Indian Old Spice original is excellent, so I'd expect the lime to work well.

The Godrej lime is a favourite of mine. It makes great lather, and the scent is good too - not so much fresh lime, but more of a slightly soapy "lime dessert" kind of scent, if that makes any sense.

I have used this cream and found that it dried my skin out. I will try it out again using less cream. GFT lime cream is very good not had any problems. The TOBS lime cologne is very good nice scent and lasts along time

Eizan70, my tub is brand new and I too found the consistency to be "soupy" I thought since I'm in Hawaii perhaps it got too hot and separated. I mixed it and put it in fridge since I read that on another post. Stayed the same. After reading above it makes sense that this is just the new formula..

Also I think I will try using a smaller amount as this seemed to help some people. I'll let everyone know if this worked. If not I'll probably pass it off to my brother in law who is just getting into wet shaving to see how he likes it..shame I was really looking forward to enjoying some tobs.

I guess it's just an excuse to buy something else ;)
perhaps another tobs or maybe somethings else. I've been enjoying my cooling menthol so perhaps something down that path :)
