A question for slant razor users.

For you guys who use a slant razor on a regular bases which blade feels the smoothest in it? I was thinking of giving the Merkur 37C another go. The thing I remember from using one before was that the blades I had on hand at the time felt rough. Do the sharpest blades, like Feathers and Iridiums give the smoothest shave because they cut the hairs easier?

I've been using a Merkur slant for about a month and have tried Feather, Treet, Persona Med Prep and Sharks so far- its still early days in that the first couple weeks I was just finding how the thing handled and the answer was 'needs a very gentle touch'. I've not been a great fan of Feather blades with my English Flare Tips and Aristocrats, but they do seem to suit this razor very well and gave me 7 great shaves. The Treet Platinum was great for 3 shaves then started feeling rougher until it really started dragging and I chucked it on shave 5. The Med Preps were likewise good, but beginning to tire by day 6 but bearable. I'm using the Shark Super Chromium this week and so far it is the smoothest of the lot, but I'm only on day 3 so it might tire out soon- we'll see- still, for the 7 cents I paid per blade I could afford to use a new one every two days and still save money from the Feather which is about 30 cents a blade- but for a week of shaving, what the heck- live a little.

A follow up- the Shark blade lasted the week and is great in this razor- and you can't beat the price! All the blades except the Treet were excellent and maybe the individual blade wasn't as good as normal- it does happen.
