Default Loving my New Improved Big Fellow

got a new improved big fellow last week, cleaned it up over the weekend and took it for a test shave last night. incredible razor, thought it had a little more forgiving blade angle than the NEW, but the pretty much the same razor. the only difference is the weight/length of the handle, which i found much better than my ball handle NEW. i also found it easier to load a blade since you can put the head on the table, then place the rest of the razor over it to tighten (if that makes sense). great razor, glad i finally founda new improved, and even more excited it was a big fellow!

I agree 100% about being little more forgiving than the NEW. I've dubbed the NEW Improved Big Fellow as the "Gentle Fellow" compared to the Old-type BF. Wonderful big hefty razor on both ends. I'm waiting on a Big Boy Deluxe to had big "Big" family I've got going.

This is why there's always a huge "YMMV" on razor reviews. I find all the variations of New Improved to be much less forgiving than any type of NEW. That said, I do still like them quite a lot -- the heft that the inner barrel adds is really nice, and the Big Fellow particularly so. I just don't think I could use one as a daily shaver. At least not at this time of year when allergies make my skin get really persnickety.

maybe the reason i think the blade angle is more forgiving is because the handle is so much longer - and you have more range at the end since its farther away from your face, as opposed to a shorter handle. move the end 1/2" either way on the shorter handle, thats more like 3/4" on the longer handle. not sure, but i know i like it.

You're probably right. With the long handle, the angle and weight of the razor finds the angle for you.

I've got one I just added to the stable that I can't use yet (Minimalist May). Thanks for your take on it. I've yet to use any NI razors, despite having a Tuckaway for quite some time.

Mr. Bob made me a custom one. It's on the long side of being usable, but when I shave my head, it's my go to DE. My custom BRW Bulldog New Improved is my Big Dog.

What a great razor design!! The new manufacturers should revisit some of the best loved designs of the past. A New Improved razor head is a thing of excellence.

I've bought New Improved TuckAways just to get the shaving heads for use on other handles.

+1 Wow...You're right, those NEW Improved heads are effective and smooth.
