    Default new bow

so i went to cabelas last night "just to look" and walked out with a brand new bow I have been kicking around getting one and did allot of research on them and went to look at one that I was interested in. Got there nobody was working in the archery dept and it just so happened a very good looking girl who worked another part of the store came over and helped me out {she was a fan of archery } so for the next few months im gonna be hitting the range learning my bow and getting ready for fall bow season.

id love to see some bows and or bow hunt pics.

Stats my good man, we demand stats! Poundage, fps etc.

What are you putting on it, pins or bare?

    Arrows etc etc etc.

make is a pse brute x rts in skull works, draw length is a 28, my draw pounds are at 59. I have a 4 pin sight not set up yet going to take it to the range and dial it in. its 320-312 fps( says factory going to test this at the range ), it has a 75% let off, and is light just under 5 lbs with out arrows quiver etc.

arrows I went with a carbon hunter 55-70 draw weight, I have not picked a broad head yet but I am going to go with a 120 grain.
went with a scotts trufit release

My archery Coach had me use two pins, less complicated and for deer hunting you can make a pretty good rangefinder with the space between the two pins.

Good luck with your new gear!

yeah im not sure how im going to set my pins yet I will be messing around with some 3d targets and see what works best for me. my set up is still t.b.d depending on how im shooting the first time I took her out I had some nice grouping all on paper on black and was able to cup my hand around 5 arrows which I was happy with for my first time out.

I am with Jim on this. Two pins should be all you need for hunting and shooting. Muzzy's have never let me down.

Very nice, I just picked up the bowtech assassin a couple months back, but have only shot it a few times. I've put only about 100 arrows through it and have wanted to shoot it a lot more but life catches up sometimes and its hard to.

Bitter sweet memories. I have been looking at this thread for several days, and it brought back so many memories, and I will share with you. Richie P. lived two doors dowm from me. Ronnie M. lived directly across the street from Richie, we grew up together, went to grammer school together, fished together hunted small game together. Richie went to a catholic high school, but we still hung together. We all got drafted in the same year 1968. Richie upon getting his draft notice joined the Marine Corp, as was a family tradition.

So after our service Ronnie, and myself had to sit around, and pray for Richie's return. He did, and once again we started hunting, and fishing together. In 1981 Richie was killed by a drunk driver, and this is the first time this old bow has been out of it's case since 1981. Ronnie, and I both lost the desire to bow hunt. Ironic Richie was awarded two purple hearts, and a silver star, only to be killed by a drunk driver. I guess life takes some funny twists, and turns. It's going back into It's case, and back into the garage. Ronnie, and I hunted for many more years together, just never bow hunted.

I didn't mean to bore you with this story, but rather I just wanted to share some memories with you . Thanks for listening.

    Best Regards Ron

Because of health reasons, I am no longer able to hunt. Which is ok I guess, as these things simply happen when you get older. You just started me thinking about bow hunting. I am glad to see people enjoy the outdoors. My sons are both avid hunters, and shooters. Over the years I have been wet, cold, and, at times cold, wet, and hungry, and would not trade a minute of my time out doors for sitting in front of a tv. We've hunted everything from West Texas Whitetails to Arkansas wild Boar, and everything in-between. I have no complaints. Man my old bow looks pretty primitive compared to your's. Technology sure has evolved with compound bows over the year's. Keep spending time in the out of doors, as it is all worth it
