Default I feel motivated to shave every day because..........

For me the cost of the consumables (i.e. shaving soap and blades) for DE shaving are just so cheap I might as well shave every day. If I run out of aftershave I can always use my alum block.

Of course there is the feeling that I'm respecting myself by shaving every day.

Then again if I accidentally nick myself badly (which hasn't happened for a while now) I'll stop shaving for a few days to let it heal. But that's a different story.

I have always been a daily shaver. I was basically given an electric razor in my early teens and told I had to use it daily as long as I was in my parents home. The habit stayed with me even while I was away at college.

My first job out of college was in the hotel industry. Facial hair a dress code violation, even if you weren't in a customer facing position. Some of they guys got by with moustaches only because the data center was moved out of the headquarters building to a remote site.

By the time I moved on from there I was well into my 30's and too old to to pull off the grundge look. I took to being the dapper fellow that dressed a bit better than my peers, so again, a daily shave was in order.

Even after I grew a beard, some portions of my face needed daily shaving. I sleep with a CPAP mask due to sleep apnea so I have to shave under the lower lip as beard growth there interferes with the seal on the mask. While I was at it I also trimmed around the edges of my beard most days.

The military forced me to shave every day when I was in my teens/early 20s. When I went to college, I grew a goatee and had it for about one year, but it irritated my skin. I would sometimes get skin infections. I also didn't like the itchiness, so I shaved it off and never looked back.

As I get older, I keep clean because a large part of my beard has turned grey. I don't color my hair or anything, but part of keeping younger looking is keeping the grey whiskers from showing. I'm also beginning to appreciate the social benefits. It never really bothered me before, but here in Boise, facial hair is the norm. The majority of the men don't bother to keep it neat or trimmed and, honestly, they look like bums. Many of them are, but that's beside the point.

I shave every day because... I shave every day.

When I used cartridges I routinely had to take time off to rest the razor burn. Since shaving DE it has not been an issue.

There are so many razors to try and if I take a day off I'll fall behind.

I shave every day because I want to look clean-cut and, especially, because I really enjoy wet shaving. I also keep my hair and beard neatly trimmed and short.

In the past, I had longer hair and a longer beard, and I could go without shaving for days. I much prefer my more civilized look--and I really, really enjoy wet shaving! (My wife does not understand my new hobby/obsession.)

My beard grows really fast, I can grow a full beard in 4-5 days. If I don't I look like a bum and my face gets itchy. Besides, I really like shaving.

I enjoy it. The ritual and the results. I used to hate shaving, but now that I make an event of it--using fine instruments and skin care products--I have come to regard shaving as a highlight of the day.

While in the military, I developed the habit of shaving everyday. When I first got out, I went through the goatee and the beard phase but now I shave everyday. I guess I like the clean-cut look but I am sure it has something to do with the my daily shaving regimen from the military.

I'm yet another who has the daily shave requirement in the military. During the cartridge days I generally didn't shave at all over the weekends for face healing. Since I've taken on DE I now shave every Saturday and give the face a break on Sunday (though I've cheated and shaved on Sunday at least several times).

    Happy shaving

I agree with the OP. When I was using cartridges, I would often extend a blade's use because it was so expensive. I would also not shave many times simply to extend the time my pack of blades would last me.

Until the military, I probably shaved every other day. Since then I have shaved every day. That would be for about 48 years. (Oh my!)

I feel motivated to shave everyday as I have a reasonably thick fast growing beard, and I like to stay smooth. Plus de shaving is the only "me time" I get nowadays

...I work in corporate and the company, being more than 80 years trading, is conservative and tradition-bound. Having said that I still walk in with a better shave than most of the other slobs. And with almost 3000 employees I haven't found another wet-shaver yet.

I am motivated to shave because I've gotten to the point where I feel like a slob if there is visible stubble on my face.
That, and I enjoy achieving a top-notch DE shave.

I used to hate shaving and would only shave for worship. Now I shave daily and I feel better about myself. I am taking care of myself. Not just my face but it has made me better in every aspect of grooming. I guess shaving is good for the soul. I wish more people would take notice of how they look when they go out. People use to dress up to go to a movie, now they wear their pajamas! Yes, the world would be a better place.......

In my early 20's I briefly went through the beard days, and the mustache years. I went clean shaven and later went into corrections and law enforcement. For me, I really like to be clean shaven as I feel it projects a professional look. Besides, now that I'm DE shaving I like having the extra real estate to shave!
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.
