Default My 3rd de shave update

I don't know if it's because I've been wet shaving since high school, but I'm getting the hang of de shaving pretty quick. On my 2nd shave I did WTG, XTG, and a very light AGT. It was smooth but not BBS yet. Last night I did the same but I put a little more pressure on ATG. Only one small weeper. And WOW!!! I'm not use to having my face this smooth. I couldn't stop feeling my face. I had no idea a face can feel this smooth. THIS IS CRAZY... How is this even possible. Also when do you know when to change the blade. I'm on my 3rd shave with the derby blade and it still feels very sharp.

Congratulations it will only get better, when to change the blade is different for everyone, but for what they cost there's no need to push them much past three shaves really.

I would change blades as soon as I realized I had a derby in my razor.
Must be my beard but I can only use a derby in my slant

Congrats on the experience. I agree on 3-4 shaves tops per blade, especially with how inexpensive Derby blades are. EVEN with expensive DE's like Feather blades, which are 40-50¢ each, you still come out ahead of purchasing a new multi-blade cartridge every week.

To be honest however, I'm not into DE because of the money, which I don't save anyway considering how much RAD, SBAD, etc. has cost me. I just like if for the variety, fun, and satisfaction of using my acquired skills... and getting those crazy smooth shaves. BTW, remember that pressure will not always reward you in the future, and may even bite you if you're not careful.
Wishing I was back on the AT.

+1 for a good reminder to all of the new guys that mastering one blade does not mean you've mastered them all. Still, nice work fredo19.

Thanks for the info, when I said I put pressure,I meant I was letting the weight of the shave do it's work. Because the first time I went ATG I didn't let the the full weight of the razor lay against my skin. I'm very very careful because I know from experience, that's once you think you got something down and let your guard down, that's when things go wrong.

That's a neat experience when you spend the rest of the day feeling your face and searching for stubble. It only gets better from here.
