Hahaha good joke :)
I can tell you Jay from my own personal experience, do not get rid of your DE's. I had sold off a good part of my collection only to repurchase everything that I had sold.
I have found that for myself, I like to keep both DE's and SE's in the mix. Right now I am using the DE's a little more just because I wanted to rediscover my love of Open Combs.
Each razor is different...we can love both SE's and DE's. The secret is to master as many times of razors that you can and always enjoy your shaving experience.

When it's dark, who will kill the hungry wolf?
FINALLY! I got a fantastic shave from my 1912 this morning. The angle was there, and so was the great MWF lather. What put it over the top was trying out the carbon steel GEM blade again. So much better.
I can call that my first good shave with an SE. Looking forward to more.

++++1. I don't own a lot of razors but I'm using all of them. Was playing with SEs and went back to my first, my 23C (which I had pretty much quit using!), then the Tech and Old Type. I love em all. Picked up a a pretty nice '51 Rolls that I'm experimenting with after venturing into the SE world. (BTW, I need a hone if anyone has one for sale) Definitely different ... but definitely a SE feel. Beautiful to look at and built to last! How nice is that in this day and age? The SEs have made me play with shave angle and technique a whole lot, especially going from an OCMM for instance, to a Gbar, a '12 and a Schick. And then there are blade options to consider.... But all of this simply made my return to the DE world even more enjoyable. Different technique for every razor, and different from shave to shave. Just got a $12 user-grade New LC "two tone" (you know what that means!) that is mostly clean and ready for the maiden voyage tomorrow. I clearly owe you folks some pics but these tech things are always a bit time-consuming given my lack of skill. I wouldn't part with any of my razors now. (except my extra OCMM, which can be had simply for the asking, BTW)
Wow! Can't remember how lonnnngggg it's been since I've been on the forum!!!! I was having serious trouble with time management.... if you know wht I mean. But I miss all the razor love. Haven't read too far back in posts yet but understand some of you have experienced misfortune. You are all in my prayers. Sickness, ageing, death and separation are in the cards for all of us - sooner or later. Only more reason to make this short life enjoyable and as meaningful as possible!

My SE's have not getting much love, as admit that I am guilty of using my Open Combs a lot. This morning I seen my G-Bar looking at me and knew I had to use her.
Three full passes, some light buffing and I am ready to take on the day with a DFS that would pass to most people as a BBS.

Well I am officially a LOSER. I have loved injectors for a while, but my Mom found so more of my Dads old shaving stuff and in the mix were 2 Ever Readys and 2 Gem razors. One of the Ever Readys has the flip up head and the other has the head that flips over, if you know what I am talking about. For the Gems one has a flip up head and the other is a Micromatic gold tone. I have used them all and love them all. They all shave exceptionally well. If I was to pick a favorite at this point it would be the ER with the head that flips over. I am sorry I don't know much about SE razors so I don't know what model ER this is. But what ever model it is I love it.

I ran out of SE blades, gotta go get some now.
Joris-FaTip Lovers+ BOTOC+ LOSER+ I Can't hardly wait for tomorrow to come so I can shave!
I am becoming a fan of the GEM Pushbutton. For several years now, the Pushbutton and myself did just not get along. It just would not give me the close shaves I have had with my other SE's. After a long seperation, I tried it again with the CVS carbon blade and have been ecstatically surprised! And while I am very picky in my definition of BBS, my last several shaves with the pushbutton have been the best DFS's one can have. It may just replace my Clog Pruf as #1. Didn't think the day would come that I would ever say that.
Any LOSERS out there having great shaves with the Pushbutton?

So...I'm confused. How do you love SEs yet embrace DEs? Doesn't that just put you back to liking ALL razors? "Losers" seem to have lost their interest in SEs. Maybe there should be a "Semi-Loser" group. Or an "Almost BOTOC" group.
Oh...never mind.
It's Bastille Day. Viva La Difference!

Not to worry. "All razors" would imply Straights, and While I'm no longer the bumbling, stumbling adolescent of 58 years ago, with half a dozen nicks for almost any DE shave attempt, I was never an agile dancer, never a very graceful (for a manly man) adult, either. I just have no interest in putting that unguarded blade close to skin as tender as mine is. I like the results I get from Injectors, but want to add weight to one to make it feel right.
I still haven't tried any razor in the dark, nor even any older razor by feel in the shower. I use one or another post-1985 cartridge in the shower (two blade Sensor, three blade Hydro).
I love a good, smooth, painless shave. That's what I love.

I totally agree. At my age, I no longer feel any testosterone-driven urges to put life and limb (or face and neck) at risk. Besides, all that honing and stroping stuff looks too much like work! I just retired and I'm enjoying not having to work any harder than necessary!
In the meantime, I'm loving the shaves I get from all my safety razors...SEs, open comb DEs, and even an occasional closed-comb DE!

Checking in here from the semi retired set. Never will give up my straights, been a part of my life for too many years. No honing for me, my 90+ year old barber does that for me. The stropping is a zen like feeling for me.
Straights 3 to 4 days per week. Others.... 1912's, damaskeenes, and injectors.
De's are a faint memory.
a side note.....
My wife, (a converted DE shaver, with the Gillette ladies SS) tried my 1912 with a Natchez handle. I fear I may now have lost that razor.
