For me, there is no better SE than the 1912 variants, no matter what price point...enjoy the shaves Damon.

Shaving with an SE is certainly humbling. I feel very comfortable with my DE's now, but trying to shave with the SE's has proven difficult. My 1912 shave this morning was full of bad angles and pain. Sometimes I felt like the hairs were being pulled from my face one by one. sigh...

Damon, I could be wrong but sounds like you're dragging the blade, too much angle. Maybe try to go steeper, less angle between blade and face.
    Good luck.

I haven't posted here for a while, but I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying my Streamline razor. I've used it with both the Treet carbon steel blades and the "Ted Pella" stainless and I'm consistently getting BBS shaves with two passes and a little touch-up. The fact that it's a gorgeous piece of hardware doesn't hurt, either!

I have a 1914 Ever Ready- the one with the lift here marks on each side. How much different is this from the streamline? thanks, Frank

I'll have to dig out my 1914 and do a side-by-side comparison, but I can tell you that the feeling in my hand and on my face is quite different.

Have you tried using the strop? I've always been curious how/if they worked.

Nope, haven't tried it and probably won't. Modern blades don't need stropping and all I would end up doing is messing up the strop. I'm just going to leave it in the case for show.

Ok brothers here is my delima, between my 1912, OCMM and Schicks, my DE are getting little use of late. When I do use my DE's I don't get as close a shave as I do with my SE's. I love my Single Ring, Old Type, NEW, Tech, SuperSpeeds and Aristocrat but they have been pushed to the rear and are getting seldom use. I know I am a LOSER, but am I becoming a SE only shaver?

I go through phases where I tend to prefer one type of razor over the others, but it's not a permanent thing...it ebbs and flows like the tides. Just go with it and do whatever feels right. At some point, you'll get the urge to pull out the DEs again. It's not like they're going to rust away for lack of use!

Had a nice, long Sunday night shave...first time using an SE, used an Ever-Ready 1912 with a GEM stainless blade.
Needed to do 3 passes and experimented with the blade angle quite a bit, ended up with a smooth shave though.
Enjoyed it a lot, but I need to play around with it some more to really feel comfortable...I think its only going to get better
