    As I have and like my Push Button, I'll not bother getting a HFT if it shaves just like my PB.

    Just because the HFT looks cool is no reason to get one, nope SERAD here, un-uh.

    ~~~IMO, the Heavy Flat Top has more heft to it compared to the Push Button...so the Push Button feels less aggressive to me, yet the 1912 I have is a fairly light razor yet it is one of the most aggressive SE GEMs I own...in that it does a great job slaying whiskars
    I've only got one SE if you don't count Injectors, a GEM that I got in a PIF. Ugly as sin, ungainly, a veritable mutant in my sea of lovely DE razors.
    The only blades I've used are carbon steel and prone to rust.
    It has none of the pizzaz that my other razors have. It's a dog, if you want to be honest.
    If only it didn't shave so damn well.
    And that is not a surprise. The '14 ER is just an outstanding razor.
    Here is a good video of shaving with an Ever-Ready 1924 done by a member that has not posted in a while, Sunburst. One of the nice things about this video is that you can hear the excellent audio feedback provided by the razor.
    Enjoy your shaves today gents.
    Huh, I'll have to get my hands on an ER now, Like I wasn't going to in the first place, to try out the shave. I have been trying to get one, but it hasn't been that high of priority. I have mainly trying to get the lather catchers for I like the shave of my Star. Someday I'll get my hands on a Jr Bar. I've heard that it is a tad easier to maneuver on the trouble areas.
    Any love here for the Gem Jr (the one with the fat black bakelight handle)? I just tried one for the first time and loved both the feel of it and the results!
    I have a couple Gem and Treet razors with the Baton handle. It's my least favorite handle.
    Great video- I am surprised by the audio as well- I have been under the misconception that observers would not hear it very loudly and that the wonderful audio was more or less private feedback to the shaver. Interesting that he feels the need for three passes- a patient, relaxed, efficient guy- a model of good shaving. Thanks for making this video Sunburst! Should you ever return to B&B and happen to read this!!!!
    I have not tried one but I am destined to acquire one at some point despite Tom's lack of enthusiasm and because of your enthusiasm- just because those handles are so odd looking and available- just as I am destined to get a Damaskeene because of Tom's earlier endorsement (and detailed description of how they are different than other similar Gems) and the relative difficulty that I will have getting one in good condition at a bargain price. Tough to be me. Tougher to be married to me.
    Well, I took Daniel's advice and swapped the Clog-pruf for the 1912 this morning--better, definitely better. Better than with a DE? Not yet, but definitely encouraging. Give me a week or two, I may be a LOSER after all.
    PS--My GEM 1912 and Ever-Ready 1912 appear to identical apart from the name--am I missing anything? Thanks!
    Got for $6.50 shipped, had only couple of spots of plate-loss on the back where it doesn't matter to me:
    I anticipate it'll shave great, like my 1912, but with an easier to grasp handle.
    Very nice....I think you will enjoy shaving with the 1912 very much.
    I think that all models of the 1912 where made in the Brooklyn plant, I thought (and someone please correct me if I am wrong) that GEM was manufactured for the US market and Ever-Ready was for the UK Market.
    Ever-Ready razors were also made in the Brooklyn plant, and some Gems were made in England. Here's one of my British made Gems that has an aluminum handle.
    I'm looking out for a GEM 1912 just so I can compare it to the Ever ready.
    There is a post above that states they are very different though I'm not sure why that would be the case. Thinking maybe the poster possibly meant ER 1914 vs 1912... I have a bid on a 1914 to see for myself too :)
    Kind of throws the balance off a bit because the handle is so light, but I really like the printing on the back of the frame.
    Am I the only one that doesn't care for the Micromatic Open Comb? Granted, I haven't tried to shave with it consistently to give it a chance. But I much rather prefer my Gem G-bar and ER 1924 Shovelhead for less irritating shaves. The MMOC/OCMM did a number on my skin and didn't really seem to give a better shave.
