I know there is a case for keeping some patina. Age, history etc.and I appreciate that. But considering the condition of your blade, what appears to be a very good etch, I'd lean towards making it pretty.

I like the etching on that one. Cool razor. I would probably shine it up... that's just my opinion though.

I'm for leaving it on. I really like the look of patina like that. Active rust and damage HAS to go but that patina takes years to achieve. Hone and go...

the patina will wear off with use......... let it do it naturally...

i have a wolsty pipe razor that i did this with...... it is GORGEOUS...
a nice walk in the woods helps me relax and relieves tension....

the fact i'm dragging a shovel and a body should be irrelevant...

I always leave it on. It gives the razor character and makes it "mine".

Good score on a nice razor. I've been eyeballing that model for awhile. They always seem to slip past me. I guess I'm too cheap. I have noticed that a lot of them have a good amount of hone wear. Most seem to be honed out. That make me think they might be nice shavers. Hone it shave with it. You can always polish it later. How does it shave? Real tortoise shell?

If anything just a light rub with mild polish.

It is shaves very well and takes the keenest edge in the least amount of time. The scales are real tortoise. This razor has a 13/16 big brother that needs to spots of black rust but almost no patina so it's mostly shiny.

    No touchy! Me likey.
Me to wife (truth!): "Does she really need all these Barbie dolls? You only need two to have a conversation. Why so many?"
Wife, not skipping a beat: "It's kinda like your straight razors..."

Naturally worn by sandpaper as we can see. Rust that caused pits that many and that deep doesn't just fall off in my experience of metal working and restoring blades. Patina might,, but not deeper rust.
